Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Pours golden colored, medium white head with nice lacing. Aroma of hops and faint yeast, toasted malts. Flavor is pretty good. Great mix of styles. Still, mostly the IPA takes over and the tripel is not quite noticeable.

Aroma of wheat and malts. A very successful blend of styles but maybe not for me. All the elements of a great Belgian Trippel, some hop flavors but not a ton. Dark cloudy pour with some head. Would have liked more hops.

Itís a Belgian Double IPA for sure (emphasis on double IPA) at 101 IBU. A decent brewing effort, but wonít rush back to it.

12 oz pour at the newly reopened Busters. Orange in color with solid but minimal head. Aroma is mostly sweet with a little hop. Taste follows suit leaning on malty goodness and Belgian yeast. Very nice clean finish with a hint of bitter notes. A really impressive Belgian tripel rendition.

cloudy amber color; citrusy hops and Belgian yeast aroma; great, bitter, citrusy hoppy flavor with an underlying Belgian yeast and bready malt; spice notes of a Belgian tripel; dry, bitter finish

Tripel or Belgian IPA? Thatís the question. All around wonderfully crafted ale, yeasty and hoppy, pours with a tripelís high fluffy head. Deep hazy gold, light hoppy aroma, taste has stronger hop elements. Dry, chalky finish, mildly sweet.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass..hazy orange pour with fluffy white head..aroma of bread,spices,hops..tripel comes through in the initial taste, followed by the hoppiness of the IPA..another really good offering from one of my favorite breweries.

Fine beer. Full of flavour, slightly boozy but not too much so. I had this one in a large bottle.

Alcohol nose, small white head. Flavor is sweet with a touch of soap. Nice texture, little toast on the finish.

From a bottle to a glass. A hazy golden color on the pour. Aroma is slightly fruity. Very nice flavor. Will have this one again.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 6oz bottle into a chalice. The label has the abv. listed at 9.2% and there is no freshness date. Appearance: The body has a light yellow gold color and a cloudy appearance. Its head builds up tall before slowly settling down to small covering which hangs on well and makes for some nice lacing. Smell: Its aroma has a solid hopy presence with some classic Belgian yeast and sweet malt. Taste/Palate: Up front on this one are loads of classic Belgian funk, yeast and malts. The hop character slowly builds up and adds big juicy citrus and tropical hop notes. The hops finish this one off with a blend of funk and pine like hops. The palate feels full and well carbonated. Notes: The hop flavor was big and bold which made for a very interesting beer.
