Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Bottle from Brook Falls Discount. Pours a pale orange with a very foamy white head leaving a lot of lacing. Aroma has sweet malts, lemon, clove and spices. Taste is of sweet fruits, spices, clove, some banana. Light and not malty. Quite spicy and tangy. It leans to the belgian ale side of a trippel. Fairly tasty. Finishes lightly fruity and strongly spicy. Sweet. Alcohol well hidden. Not the best trippel I’ve had. An interesting, very drinkable, angle on the style.

Great! So many things going on. Hef notes Belgian beer notes and west coast hops. All above blended so well. Expensive beer but worth it.

Tap...quite aromatic with floral hops and funky yeasty notes asserting themselves. Complex and well balanced body with bittersweet flavors and fruity esters in abundance. Clean dry finish...well done.

Amber to copper colored, nice lacing, medium strong off white head. Aroma is malt, peppery, some yeast and hay. Taste follows the nose, moderate sweet malt, some caramel, yeast, straw, lemongrass, spices-peppery, medium+ lasting bitterness which is a bit harsh, astringent, dry finish. Medium bodied and carbonation. Not buying it...

On tap. No detailed notes - entering from earlier tasting. Very strong aroma of candied fruit, more well balanced taste with a well-hidden ABV.
