Commercial Description:
The Nut Brown is an English-Style Ale having rich caramel malt flavors and drying nutty characteristics in the finish. British and Belgian specialty malts are used in this brew to enhance the depth of malt flavor and aroma. Mild hops are used to lend just the right balance to the lush malt flavors and medium body.

12 oz. bottle. Aroma strong with malts and nutty, almost warm woodsy smells. Dark rich amber in appearance with medium body and frothy, fluffy, large off-white head. Flavors of dry caramel, but not as sweet, with roasted nut. Front palate is wetter with a more barley-grain taste, mid palate is earthy again and this beer finishes with a nice malty aftertaste. Low hoppy flavor in mid palate. Would pair well with a roasted animal such as duck, turkey, beef or buffalo or a heavier squash risotto dish.

This is an excellent nut brown ale. It starts with a very inviting aroma of caramel and chocolate, matching a thick mocha head and deep brown color. The flavor is a perfect medium-bodied brown ale - not too chocolate like Dogfish Head Indian Brown but not stringy and thin like Backdraft Brown. The finish is dry and nutty. A great session beer!

12 oz. bottle in pint glass:Copper, hazy pour. Aroma is malty with hint of spruce. Medium-bodied ale tastes highly-carbonated. Flavors of spruce and horehound candy, with robust malty sweet lasting finish.

This is a dryish but well-balanced, smooth, tasty, nutty brown ale that lacks some weaknesses that I commonly find (one-dimensional character, off-balanced burnt-bitter element, blandness). Igt is deep red-brown with a big tan head that slowly shrinks and leaves a little weak lace. The aroma is dark tasty bread, nuts, hints of chocolate, coffee, and fruit/raisins. It’s goo d and not too sharp burnt, etc. The taste is nicely toasty and nutty without being burnt or sharp. It has a fruity quality as well and is very smoth with great balance. It has a lightly dry, toasty finish and is quite drinkable.

Poured a fairly clear dark copper amber, like a strong iced tea. A 1 inch tan creamy head that disappeared quickly. There is a mild nutty aroma and a subtle sweetness in the scent. A crisp clean taste, nice carbonation. Initially more flavor of hops than a nut flavor, but the nut flavor developes the longer you drink. It has a bit of the English dry ale finish. The beer in general is mild as to aroma and flavor. After having several other Green Flash beers I was looking for more flavor out of this, but still good.

Sample at Alan’s HSC initation. Bottle from Howard’s Market in Tehachapi, CA. Pours a brownish-amber color with a thin light tan head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Toasted malt and nut aroma with a bit of hops. Medium, smooth body with flavors of nuts and caramel malt, plus a touch of hops and chocolate. The finish is nutty with a mild hops and semi-sweet chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
