Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Draft at yardhouse Palmdale. Pours cear and deep golden with a small head. Aroma is pine and orange. Mouthful is big bursting orange bitterness... Like an orange rind marinated in pine sap. Finish lingers for an enjoyable mouthwatering moment or two or three. Nothing much balanced about this beer, but for a hop head... Does that matter?? Will have a couple of those pints!

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2012 Pours a golden orange with a nice one finger foamy off white head. Aroma is intense with a lot of floral citrus, pine resin, tropical fruits, biscuit malts, and grass. Taste is of pine resin, grapefruit rind, limes, tropical fruits, biscuit malt, fresh cut grass, and some caramel. has a medium-full body with a creamy and slightly oily mouthfeel, nice carbonation, a semi dry, bitter finish. overall, a very drinkable and tasty DIPA with the 9.5% ABV very well hidden.

wow this shit is great. Reminds me of hopslam. Great clean citrusy aroma. Flavor is massively bitter, but still has a huge amount of honey and sweetness for balance. Not at all just like hop tea or something. Moderately full chewy viscous mouthfeel. Aftertaste is almost like licking hoppy tree bark. This is very well done.

Pours a clear golden orange with a frothy off-white head. The aroma packs an earthy hop punch. Loads of resinous pine, wet grass, notes of citrus fruits and a slight hint of malts. The flavor is an extreme bitter tongue thrashing. Juicy grapefruit, hints of pineapple, citrus zest backed up by pine resins. Big, Aggressive, Outstanding DIPA!

Tap at CK. Clear brass amber with a medium, buttermilk head with sticky lacing. Nose is squashy with oddities and orange liquor. Taste is cheesy and sugary with mild pine and bitter orange. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2012 Pours a nice golden amber. Slight head. Aromas of malt, pine, grapefruit rind, tropical fruit and alcohol. Initial taste is mildly bitter with a bit of sweetness. Finishes with a strong hop bitterness. Flavors of grapefruit rind, orange peel, candied sugar, alcohol and tropical fruits. Delicious, but I feel a lot of the flavor is masked by the hop bitterness. It’s not too hoppy, just feels like the flavor is being robbed. Overall its a pretty solid beer. At 149 IBUs you’d think itd be straight hops but its quite delicious. A definite beer worth trying.

Bottle. Pours very clear dark amber with a large, frothy and pillowy off-white head, medium-long retention with excellent, sticky lacing. Aroma is heavy, fragrant citrus, pine, resin, and floral hops, light biscuit and honey/straw malt, persimmons, key limes, and mango tropical fruity aromatics. Flavor is heavy hops and spicy bitterness, somewhat lingering with a mild throat burn, supporting malt holds up the heavy hops, tropical fruits mingle throughout holding onto a fair sweetness until the beer finally finishes dry and lightly salty. Full body, medium-high warmth and carbonation.

Pint at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, Bittersweet. Grapefruit, honey. Clean golden orange color, nice head faded quick. Spotty lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel, dry bitter finish, good, not sure if I notice much difference with impy ipa, but that’s me.

Oh where do I begin? I used to think these kind of beers were great Hop Bombs. I don,t think that way anymore. Monstrosity. Frustration, annoyed, overbearing, FAKE! extracts, too clear biting, F*%$# me! disappointed, chemical, pointless, slam it. shit, pass, worthless, trash, bitter, grassy, arrogant, abrasive, unpleasant, solvent, two more bottles of death left. arsenic, sauerkraut aftertaste, The lowest rating at the time I wrote this was 2.5 remarkably! Not any more.
