Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

(Rating #2968)

Draft. Pours orange amber with a white head. Citric hoppy aroma with some floral notes. The flavor is way hoppy, resiny pine, light citrus. Decent. Could be better balanced.

tap at brewery-orange with a small foamy white head. nose of hops, spice, and lots of pine, resin and mangos. oaky, piney flavors with some cheese-finish is dry as FUCK! palate wrecker for sure. on cask, this beer was really floral on the nose and much more subdued on the palate/flavors-earthy and citrusy. long resin finish on the tap version-the palate wrecker part! not as refined as other beers of this genre, but nonetheless, cool and good to have tried.

On tap at Churchill’s. Pours a light amber w/ white head. Malt, caramel, citrus, piney hops, and fruit. Good IIPA, well balanced, it just lacks some of that fresh floral, tropical hop punch I like in IPAs.

On draft at Green Flash Brewing Co. (Vista, CA): Pours a slightly hazed orange/light copper with a medium white head. Nose of citrusy hops, sweet malts, florals, fruity esters, and wet grass. Oily mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Flavors of sweet pale and caramel malt (sugary) with some fruity notes against a resinous hop backbone. Bitter finish. Drinkability: Comparable to Moylan’s Hopsickle, unfortunately not as balanced, or as "palate wrecking". Pairing: Bacon Bleu Burger. Rebuy: Sure. #332 on 10032010, DG.

Tap at Mugs Split Thy Skull 9. . Poured a rich clear amber with a thin white head. Nose is big big citrusy piny hops. Flavor follows the nose. The hops are really big bold and sticky with a bunch of malts for balance. Really leaves a ring of resin on your mouth in the big bitter finish. Not for the feint of heart.

A: The pour looks innocent enough, a pale copper color with a thin layer of white foam on top. S: This is what I expect from Green Flash, pure hops in the nose. Very citrusy, mostly grapefruit and a bit of lemon with a substantial hit of pine as well. T: A very intense grapefruit flavor leads the charge, followed by a bit of caramel malt. The finish is quite bitter and has some very nice resinous pine character to it. M: This is a medium to full bodied beer with a moderate level of carbonation. D: One of the better IPAs I’ve had in awhile. The typical flavors you expect from a Green Flash IPA and it definitely lives up to the name. Just watch out for this one because it packs a punch.

On tap at Baird Nakameguro Taproom. Grassy, citrus hop aroma. Pretty amber-red color with a thin, fine head. Big hop flavor, with alcohol, malty caramel flavor. Big and tasty enough but rather unbalanced and sloppy.

On tap at Bistro DIPA Fest poured a clear golden amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, pine and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pine, earthiness and light citrus with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.
