Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Growler… Clear amber ale with a large, frothy, white head. Good retention. The nose furnishes piney, resiny, earthy hops flanked by hints of caramel, fruitcake and pear. Full-bodied with stinging carbonation. Toffee and caramel malts provide an excellent stage for the tropical, citrusy, rindy hops to show off. Lengthy, bittersweet finish… with the bitterness lingering on and on and on. Growler courtesy of richiesd!

Cask at GBBF 2011. Golden orange color. Pungent juicy hop aroma with mango, elderberry, grapefruit and orange. Firm smooth bitterness in the flavor with complex tropical fruit character. Dangerously drinkable, one of the best double IPAs.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2015 Cask at the GBBF 2011. Golden with a small white head. Hoppy aroma of grass, perfumed citrus and herbs. Dry and hoppy flavour with grass and pine. Quite bitter and also quite elegant as cask ale. 3.6 rating.

Keg at CBC 2014. Golden with a thick and lasting white head. The aroma is like sniffing a bag of fresh pellets. Citrus, pine and green hops. Sweet hop juice flavour with pine notes dominating. Intense and lingering hoppy, bitter finish

2009 on Draft. Aroma: Ripe guava, with just a hint of durian funk Palate: Full bodied Flavor: Starts with tropical fruit syrup and finishes long good resinous hop that supports the malt plus ends with a full, rounded mouth feel and lightly roasted caramel malt.

Fresh and hoppy aroma has lots of exotic fruits, but at the same time it is a bit light. Flavour is sweet and rather hoppy with resin and fruits. Good DIPA but too sweet, again.

GBBF Cask. Reported at a ’mere’ 9.5% here. Hazy gold beer, residual white head. Nice citrussy nose with some cat piss! Smooth semi dry palate. Intense Citra come Nelson hops with a little dried fruits. Some tropical fruits buried in there as well. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Nice DIPA.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2012 On cask at Pizza Port Carlsbad for this rating. (I’ve had this as a growler fill before I totally loved it). On cask, this was not one of my favorite beers of my recent one week vacation in Carlsbad. It was dank in a bad way and seemed like warm sweet water compared to the great PP Whambo IPA I had at the same time. May 8th, 2012: bumping up from 3.5 to 4.1 based on recent bottle batch. This is hoppy glory in a bottle- delicious through and through and big dank weed like aroma. Love it.
