COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber. Pours a hazy dark orange with a one finger white head. Head fades to a thin wispy cap with some thin lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma is full of pine with a hint of tropical fruit along with some apple and peach. Malt is pretty much absent with only the faintest hint of bread. The taste and mouthfeel is where this beer really begins to impress. A huge punch of resiny pine along with a very impressive palate stripping bitterness. A very tiny amount of bready malt is in the background but is completely buried by all the hops. A very dry mouthfeel for a IIPA which is a wonderful change from the usual. Overall, this is a pretty delicious IIPA. While it is not something I would drink on a regular basis, it is a nice change up and one of my favorites in the style.

While I am the first to grab a hop bomb and diffuse it with my stomach, Palate Wrecker misses the mark in a big way. This is hop-obnoxious for the sake of obnoxious. The aroma is full on overstuffed kitty litter box and flavor is similar. The alcohol hotness is here in spades, and the sickly sweet malt backing cannot temper the onslaught of resiny sticky bitterness. Is it hippy; you bet. But is it good; questionable.

Dark amber pour, light head. Smells amazing lots going on. Hops hit hard! No wonder why they call it palate wrecker. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Black Bottle Brewery. Orange hazy amber appearance. Resinous hop aroma with pine, herbs, floral and light citrus. Similar flavor, hoppy and bitter all the way through. Medium body with a creamy oily feel and a dry crispy finish. West coast IPA all the way, pretty good.

2013-04-26. Crisp orange body with a nice creamy beige head. 3++ Aroma is quite hoppy, modest alcohol presence. 7+ Flavour is nice, good amount of hops, moderate bitterness throughout, sort of muddled but pleasant citrus character that is lovely but it’s prominence is somewhat subject to the whims of the alcohol and bitterness. 7++ Very very smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. 4+ Solid stuff, lightly warming but still dangerously drinkable. On tap at Reservoir, Waterbury

fresh 22oz bomber. pours hazy deep copper with thick off white head. sharp lemon bite on the nose. extremely bitter with a deep but one dimensional hop profile. if bitter is your thing you have found your mecca. and worship hard with this one. very bitter lemon, grapefruit and a thud of booze.

Clear copper pour with a white soapy head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and hops. Great lacing! Creamy mouthfeel with hops, hops, and more hops with a slight caramel undertone. Very nice!

Tap: This must be the most bitter beer that I’ve ever drank. It is everything that an DIPA has turned up to 11. The high alcohol was not noticeable as crushing bitterness overwhelms everything.
