4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 cbirker (42) - Fullerton, California, USA - APR 9, 2012
Poured from a bomber into tulip. Awesome DIPA! floral, cirtrus, and resin hops really slam hard on the palate. I love the mouthfeel on this...so hoppy but so smooth for a 10% abv. appears golden to amber usually see a darker look to 10% DIPAs.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerguy101 (5206) - Newark, California, USA - APR 9, 2012
Sampled on 4/9/20102, This Imperial IPA pours an orange copper color from a 12oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is grapefruity, piney, fruity and sweet, with some more hop aroma at the end. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hop, my oh my, the hops, are grapefruity and piney and the some more grapefruity and piney. If you couldn’t tell it’s a really hoppy beer. Lots of reisny bitterness and lots of hops flavor. Decent carbonation. A big bad IPA. A reported 149 IBUs, but there is a nice malt backbone trying to come out from behind all those hops. Very nicely done. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is very bitter.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 HopTsing (363) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - APR 9, 2012
From the bottle poured a golden brew with a light head. Stink foot and malt aromas. Strongly hopped, sweet, with a lingering hop finish that you have to scrape off your tounge.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 tia (805) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - APR 9, 2012
Bottle. Light copper with decent head and lacing. Woo- smells promising. Grapefruit and resin. Flavor perfumy and grapefruity. Nice hoppy finish. Like I like it.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 hayduke (2963) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 9, 2012
On draft at The Local Beer Bar in Eureka, CA, Poured a clear amber with good sized white head. Nose is like shoving a grapefruit up your nose but after the initial shock there is some fruit as well. Medium in body. Med body. Flavor is a blast of hops, but there is some malts there too The bitterness is incredible, but somehow it is not overwhelming and it masks the alcohol well. A long bitter finish. LOVE this beer.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 SacchCerevisiae (16) - Ohio City, Cleveland, Ohio, USA - APR 9, 2012
The complex taste of this beer makes you want to take your time with it and explore. As previously said, the high bitterness rate, not to mention the high ABV, make this one a sipper for sure. Save this beer for later in the night - it really will wreck your palate. Very solid beer.
2.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Thorpe429 (4945) - , Illinois, USA - APR 9, 2012
Bottle from Rick’s in Alexandria. Served in a Green Flash pint glass.
Pours a clear light copper color with a very nice off-white head. Tons of ringy lacing on the way down.
The nose carried a bit of light bready malt and some resinous hops. Very light citrus peel in the background. This is surprisingly malty. Not in the sense thy there is a strong malt presence, but just in the overall balance as there really isn’t that much hop aroma there.
The flavor continues down this path. Some amber and bready malt with a heavy bitterness though not much hop flavor at all. Very unfortunate. A bit of alcohol there as well. Body is light-medium with good carbonation and pretty heavy bitterness.
I really just couldn’t get into this one.
3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 stimulus (86) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2012
Part of a six IPA tasting session.
No freshness date, but I know this is the first bottling. 4 pack.
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter.
A: Pours a clear amber with a one finger white head.
S: Dank, piney hops dominate the aroma.
T: Just piney hops here, there is an extreme lingering bitterness that may be unpleasant for some, but definitely sets it apart in this tasting.
M: Sticky, medium-bodied, and moderately carbonated.
O: Like the OB Deviant Dale’s, this is definitely targeted at hopheads; however, the strong lingering bitterness doesn’t fall back well on any malt. This is good to remind me what bitterness tastes like every once in awhile, but I definitely prefer Green Flash’s other hoppy offerings.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 gorditoabd (560) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 8, 2012
12 oz from a 4-pack from Bev4Less. Pours the expected amber hue, with a decent sampling of white foam, lacing nicely around the edge of the glass. Aromas are of heavy malt, pine and citrus hops, though mild, and a funky cheese (smokey) hint. The taste is ultra unique, especially for an imperial IPA, with the dark, smokey cheese hints acting like an outer wrapping around the grapefruit and resin flavors. Excellent mouthfeel and body. Really interesting that this brew and the SN Hoptimum were released in such close proximity to one another. Great, not good, stuff here, and I’m not a Green Flash fan.

22 oz bomber pours amber with a off white head. Aroma is hops, which came through as I poured. Taste is citrus and pine hope and a little malt.
