Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Green Flash Palate Wrecker has a very thick, frothy, cream-colored head, a mostly clear, golden-amber appearance, some ascending bubbles, and a bit of splotchy, thin lacing left behind. The aroma is of very intense grape fruit, with some sweet breadiness riding along. Taste is sweet, toffee-like, super bitter, and piney. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, and chewy, and Green Flash Palate Wrecker finishes dry, mentholated, and full. Well, it didn’t wreck my palate, but I still find it to be most excellent. RJT

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of floral hops, earthy hops, sticky hops, and more hops. Did I mention it’s big on hops? Taste is just as expected, BITTER. There’s some nice malt balance in there and some grapefruit and citrus notes as well, but the hop bitterness never lets up. I rather enjoy this brew quite a bit, and the perfect 5 for palate is basically in honor of the label doing what it says it will. I’m wrecked...

12 fl. oz bottle from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Tall egg-shell colored head. Body is misty deep gold. Bold hop nose. Citus zest, resiny hop oils and some mellowing tropical fruits. Faint honey-scented malts. Well-bodied. Thick mouthfeel. Taste is hop forward. Strong minty and resiny bitterness. Citrus zesty hop flavor with notes of pineapple, leaves, grass and something herbal. Some malt-sweetness below. Hop bitterness linger in a long finish. Highly drinkable.

Aroma is citrus-orange and a decent hint of fruit sweetness. The flavor is orange-citrus/citrus pulp, hop resin, an undercurrent of malts, notes of fruit/candy sweetness and a dryish and bitter/tangy finish.

Pours an absolutely beautiful, bright, clear golden peach color, with a nominal head but a lot of lacing. The aroma is a lot of pine and a little bit of floral, but all hops. The flavor is monstrous hops. Just absolutely unrestrained hop aggression. As the name suggests, this is an IPA for hop heads only. It’s not quite in league with Stone’s Ruination, which is more complex and a little denser, but it’s very good.

On tap at The J Clyde in Birmingham. Pours a nice deep orange color, slightly hazy. Aroma of hops and hops, citrus, slightly floral. The taste is bitter, but along the lines of the floral/grapefruit style. Stays smooth but bitter throughout drink. Very good DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

April 23rd, 2012 - Green Flash’s Palate Wrecker features a distinct IPA palate and bouquet, breaking out from the easy-to-sort flavor categories that a few years of craft brew drinking have developed. Whiskey brown in color, the Palate Wrecker produces a fresh hoppy smell glazed with liquid malt and maple syrup, and a small dose of brown sugar. In the taste I find much more of the imperial IPA style shine through - dry with a nice wheat profile and a good, gripping bitterness. IBUs wash over the tongue - no grapefruit - focusing instead on pine and a classic Old World Hop bitterness, and even a touch of rye.

Fantastic citrusy, bitter, dry, taste and palate. Malty and dry finish. Overall an amazing double ipa that I’d recommend to anyone.

lots of resinous hops in this one. nice tropical fruit backbone with mostly bitter renious, grapefruit style bitterness. great medium thick/slick mouthfeel, alcohol warmth but not in the flavor, hides it pretty decently for such a big beer. really very good, and does what it says it does. serious hophead beer, very satisfying in that regard

Bomber brought back from California from a recent trip. Thanks TSA for not taking it from my checked bag! Deep amber pour with a thick white head. Really nice floral nose. This is a beast of hoppiness with some strong bitterness to it too. I would put this up there with some really nice DIPA’s.
