Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2012 355 ml bottle @ Naamat, Tampere.
Pours clear copper color with small head. Aroma of exotic fruits, hops, sweet caramel, floral notes and malts. Flavour of fruits, caramel, malts, goose berries and hints of hay. Stuffy, a bit sweet and caramelly. Definitely a disappointment.

12oz bottle, I think as a bonus but not sure from whom, maybe Alan. Clear bold amber with a nice one finger white head that settles to a thin head. A very nice combination of malt and on first blush sweet hops; wet, resin and pine, ripe grapefruit - very interesting "mush" of hops without overwhelming. Moderate to high carbonation, fairly full body, becomes quite bitter but not too much so, dries out the palate to leave a nice resiny coating, lots of malt and hops. Quite tasty.

The aroma is fantastic citrus and herbal grass with apparent sweetness. The taste is very much like the title says a complete palate wrecker. Abrasively bitter and harsh but still palatable. Pretty good stuff.

Pours a bright golden with a white head that lingers for a bit. In the aroma, I get pine, grapefruit, and apple. Taste is very heavy in pine and very hoppy, with some undertones of apple and orange. Aftertaste is all pine and hops and really stays with you for a long time. More slick when drinking and medium bodied. Very dry with heavy bitterness. This is a nice beer from a style that I enjoy.

Bottle (12oz). Pours a perfect hazy golden orange. Citrus and pine delicious aroma. Could also be called palate cleanser, I do love this bottle of hoppy happy bitterness!

Bottle at home. Pours clear deep golden with a medium steady off white head. The aroma is sweet hopp fruity, grape fruit, resin, llight spruce and peaches. Highly hoppy flavour. Bitter and citrussy. Resin, spruce and grass. Loads of hops in this monster.

Thanks Carter! Tasted from a cool 12oz bottle into snifter. It poured a clear, deep reddish amber color with full, creamy off-white head, somewhat short-lived but with a little lace. Intense hop aroma of course: mostly American-style grapefruit and pine resin, but some earthy/flowery English aspects as well. The hops combined with the elevated alcohol to create a strong perfume. Crazy bitter flavor, but not exactly mouth-puckering, thanks to the rich malt sweetness. Medium-heavy body, high carbonation, "chewy" mouthfeel. Well-crafted for sure, no real flaws. A winner in the double IPA category--but almost too over-the-top for me to love--I prefer more balanced, less aggressive brews. I still enjoyed the sipping experience, in much the same way as a fine single-malt Scotch.

Very thick head. Quite bitter but not over powering. Hide alcohol well. Citrus. Thick lacing. Thanks Seymour.

This beer is insane. The hops live up to the name and wrecked my taste buds. Need to be in the mood for this one but if craving an intense hop experience this lives up to the test.

Insanely bitter double here. Some malty at the beginning of the taste then gets abrasively bitter so to wreck your palate.
