COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with a solid large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma is dominated by citrus and pine noted originating from the C-hops. Taste is also dominated loads of citrus and pine notes with a bitter finish. Malt is present though hard to decipher through al the hops with some light residual sugar. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. There is no denying that this a hop bomb though I prefer when they veered toward floral then bitterness.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a 2 finger, creamy, eggshell head Htat has great retention. Aroma is huge on citrus, some pine, cat box and a decent amont of melon and tropical fruit hops, toast, dusty tree fruit, caramel and bread crust. Flavor is full of bitter citrus, more pine than the aroma lets on, light tropical fruit, yeast rolls, toast, some grainy malt sweetness, caramel, light grass and a floral, tropical citrus and pine finish with a grapefruit and caramel fade. Palate is fairly heavy in body, creamy and slick on entry, dry-not quite astringen on the finish and somewhat lightly carbonated. Pretty awesome overall, the most attractive aroma I have encountered in an IIPA in a while, the taste let me down a bit comparitively, but it was still very tasty.

On tap at Mad Mex Cranberry. Cloudy amber color, fair head and some lacing desoite the alcohol content. Huge funky aromatic hops in aroma and flavor. enough malt to carry the body. Great beer.

Sweet malt combined with full hop bite balances well. Very nice. Reminds me of Dale’s Deviant

355mL bottle, pours light copper with an off white head, light carbonation and loads of tropical fruit on the nose. Wow first sip of this beer you get a huge hit of flavour complexity, slight alcohol burn but loads of fruity flavour. The bitterness and the alcohol are both well hidden by the complex weave of flavours, very nice beer.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dull orange with a small, dense white head. Nose is very resinous with loads and loads of pine. Some herbal undertones come out which I’m not a huge fan of and there is a touch of spice but the pine is the show stopper here. Taste is full on pine, light citrus and resin with only a touch of the herbs that came out in the taste. Massive bitterness surrounds you once you swallow. Crazy stuff

Finally found this in a 4 pack in my town. Wasn’t going to pay $10 for a 22oz, but the 4 pack wasn’t much cheaper at $13.99. Anyway. Pours a clear deep gold color with a 1 finger white head consisting of fine white bubbles. Aromas are really sweet citrus fruits, definitely mango, some lemon peel, ripe oranges. Very sweet aroma. This had better not be a sugar bomb when I taste it. Here goes... Ok, it’s pretty sticky and sweet. Not as sweet as I was expecting. Very bitter, it starts out like sucking on a sweet pine cone (if you can imagine that), then finishes like you just chewed on a mouthful of Tylenol. So sweet, then bitter, then an almost dry finish. It really evolves in your mouth as it moves across your tounge. This is a very west coast style IPA, and I was hoping I was going to hate this one, but it is actually very good. Mouthfeel is very thick and syrupy. Over the top bitterness on the back end, I can’t stress that enough. I hate to admit it, but this is a very good beer.

The beer pours a hazy, orangey, copper color with a full, white, creamy head which settles to a rocky layer and leaves drippy lace. The nose is decisively bitter with lots of resins and pine all over, white grapefruit, herbal and spicy, and rustic notes. The flavor is extremely bitter, the most bitter beer I have had to date, still pine and rustic, resin all over, pink grapefruit, light sweet caramel, and herbal bitterness. The palate is medium to full, lively, creamy, and oily. The finish is all bitter, more herbal, and lingering resin and grapefruit notes. Hop monster does not begin to describe this one with the most intense hop bitterness I have had. I always love these unbalanced hop bombs but this one was almost too much too handle, it was hard to drink more than one. It was nice to get my hop fix and so quickly but not a beer I could drink often.
