Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Bottle sample at Shapiro brewery. Thanks Shapiro Bros. Clear golden amber with a frothy white head. Very crisp grapefruit and evergreen aroma, Tastes very bitter, eggy, a little dry. Light body, soapy finish, well carbonated.

Bottled. A pale amber beer with a huge lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops, hops, and more hops, as well as caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, hay, alfa acids, caramel, and malt, leading to a very bitter finish.

Pours a slightly cloudy, pale golden orange color with tangerine hues and a half finger frothy white head.  Decent retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring.  Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Resinous earthy aroma with grassy/soily pine notes countered by sweet fruit and pale malt.  Hints of pine needle and grass followed by grapefruit and orange peel.  Biscuity malt with graham cracker and sweet booze. Medium bodied with a blast of dry resinous hops that provide a strong bitterness that lingers into a dry finish.  Earthy pine needle and spruce followed mid palate by citrus/tropical fruit notes that prevent it from becoming one dimensional.  Citrus rind, grapefruit and pineapple followed by biscuity malt and sweet booze.  Thin and a bit watered down but easy to drink.  Strong bitterness is nicely countered by sweeter notes but it’s a bit too thin and boozy for my liking.

Pour slightly dusty oramge, with a large n’ frothy off-white head. Aroma of pine, apricot, slight caramel, grass, weeds. Quite a lot is going on here, which is nice;) Taste is pretty darn bitter, with some sweet, caramelly notes to back up the bitterness. Long, bitter and dry aftertaste though. Medium body, with a semi-fizzy carbonation.

Flaske: Meget typisk IIPA, der er rejst over atlanten. Orange øl med et let støvet humleduft. Meget bitter, men det er klart når humlen er falmet. Men stadig kan man smage at amerikanerne bare kan det der med IIPA. God øl.

35 cl bottle @ home. Pours amber with a white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is hoppy with a lot of pine and some citrus as well as some sweet malt. Flavour follows the aroma quite well.

Bottle pours a copper with orange hues, large tan head, active carbonation, and excellent lacing. Aroma is big pine and orange zest with hints of grapefruit, grass, and peach. Taste is similar with huge piney hop bitterness and grapefruit upfront balanced by citrus and caramel malt on the finish. Good mouthfeel with citrus flavor and palatable bitterness lingering. Happy to say that my palate was challenged rather than wrecked. Truly enjoyable Imperial IPA.

Hazy golden with a medium white head. Very nice beer with a lot of hops that bring apricots, tropical fruits and piney notes. Also a light tobacco touch that I often find when the hops re fresh. There is also a good malty body that bring some sweetness and a very refreshing long lasting bitterness.

12oz. bottle. Strongly hoppy, fruity, citric and malty aroma, with notes of brown sugar, doughy bread, pine, grapefruit, pineapple, earthiness (musky?), pepper and mild hop spice. Lightly hazy medium orange-amber color with a fine, lasting head and intricate lacing. Flavor is indeed hugely hoppy but there is plenty of malt here as well, with toasty caramel and toffeeish character amidst the admittedly off the charts hop flavor and bitterness. Plenty of citrus, pine and green, leafy herbal tones that seem to peak at the finish, as well as a lightly drying touch of alcohol. Slick, full, warming and finely effervescent mouthfeel with a hugely full body. I like this.
