Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

With a name like Palate Wrecker i was expecting a bit more. A damn good strong IPA, but just slightly disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, buy this beer on sight!!!

Tap. Great citrusy, flowery hop aroma. The initial taste is pleasant, though not as complex as I had hoped. The bitterness and palate wrecking really kicks in with the aftertaste. Drinking this with some food helped to mellow the astringent effect on the tongue. OK, but not great.

Tap at St Augustines Like most Green Flash products, a great looking beer. Sparkling amber, lasting beige head.Piney citrus hop nose and general profile. Great malt backbone. Big lasting citrus/bitter hop finish. Big alcohol content is well hidden. Nicely balanced, a great effort!

Backlog: bottle from carrboro beg company. Big hearty ipa. Lots of pine, grapefruit and hop resin. Far from restrained in the bitterness dept.

22oz bottle of yum pours clear copper with gold edges and full off white head and leaving behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up rich sticky hop goodness that’s largely resiny pine sap and grassiness. It smells of hoppy yum. The taste is similar, thankfully, with chewy sticky pine hop flavor to go along with a moderate level of pine hop bitterness and then slamming into some bitter grapefruit hop notes. I get a mild booze sensation into the finish that seems “spot on” for the style. Solid IIPA.

Bottle. Thanks to peter for the bottle. Phaleslu that is. Notes of nice tropical tangerine fruit and grapefruit with a sweet melon toasted dough note. Touch too much sweet booze and melon as it warms. Abrasive grapefruit resin bitterness.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a dank piney hop and maybe a mango. Flavor is all hops. Almost no malt presence. Juicy fruit blast of fresh hops. No alcohol presence as well. This is a tasty hop bomb. Did not wreck the palate but more like pleased it.

Drank at the Newtown Brewfest. A really good example of and Imperial IPA. A blast of citrus, mango, hop, pine and caramel. The blend is near perfect.
