Bottle from Bine & Vine. Amber-orange color with a fairly thick off-white head forming on top. A thin layer lasts, allowing for some spotty lacing to slide along the side of the glass before collecting around the edges. The aroma is pungent for sure, offering big whiffs of grapefruit, mango, and pine resin. Once that subsides there’s evidence of a heavy caramel malt bill. As expected, this is quite hoppy and bitter, intensifying in a dry finish. The bitterness lasts long after the sip is finished. Lots of pine resin and grapefruit with grassy notes. Perhaps even some chalk. As the aroma suggests, there is a lot of caramel malt here too, which also lingers. It’s syrupy and kind of sticky on the palate. The name is fitting, although it’s not so massive that it’s too hard to consume. Not refreshing either though. This just seems a bit extreme to me, especially the malt, which is sticky and thick in the body. But I can see why it’s there. Good beer but more isn’t always better and I wouldn’t mind if this were a bit cleaner and toned down.

Nice amber with a cream head. Super dank, pine, citrus, grapefruit. Great palate, sticky, grapefruit, awesome.

On tap at Venti’s South. Bitter, dry and more bitter. Lots of pine mixed with some grapefruit and a completely dominated malty sweetness in the background. Finish lingers close to forever. Tasty.

hops everywhere. aroma is musty pine and grass and tree sap and some tropical fruit. flavor is thick with hop but not really unbalanced with a nice mellow sweetness. finish is just bitter hop. it’s good but i dunno, waste of hops maybe, at some point it gets musty, almost cheesy.

Super rich and strong. Meant to drink slow and enjoy. It lives up to its name and truly wrecks your palate after drinking it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance is a hazy copper color with a thick, sticky head of white foam. Aroma is a somewhat pungent, grassy, bitter, earthy aroma with a sweet backbone of bread and white cake. Taste isn’t quite as over the top bitter as a person would suspect out of 149 IBU. It’s actually kind of sweet. Don’t get me wrong, bitterness is still the dominant taste, but the sweetness still finds a way to battle through the hop madness. Pretty nicely balanced. In the finish I get a dry, resinous taste. Bitterness lingers a long while. The biggest problem I have with this beer is the price. $5.50 for a 12 ounce bottle is tad steep. Glad I got to try it, but if you get the chance, pick up a 4-pack rather than a single bottle.

Clear golden amber with a big fluffy white head, excellent lacing, excellent retention... Some big aromas of stone fruits citrus and pine... A little too piney flavored for my liking, but some nice stone fruit finishes the beer and lingers, a little toasty a little sweet, seems a little green, decent carbonation medium full bodied...

Amber pour with an offf-white head. aroma is fruity hops .Taste is creamy, fruity hops, a little bitterness. Nice hop aftertaste.

Poured amber with little head. Massive hop aroma, extremely hoppy taste. Centennial hops very prominent. High alcohol and centennial hops make it reminiscent of Dale’s Pale Ale but not as dry.

Tap at J. Clyde Birmingham. Dark copper and clear. White foamy head. Cold but nice fresh citrus nose. Taste is rather malty with very stinging bitter hops which are a bit underwhelming for the style. Body is smooth and oily. Not bad but not nearly as good as I expected.
