Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2012 Solid orange/light copper some creamy head clearing shortly, nice lacing. Very nice hoppy nose of complex floral, fruit, resiny, dank, hoppy, grapefruit, slight pine, fresh rainforest, candied malt carmel, butterscotch, and slight pastry biscuit. Taste is mirrored with aroma but has more orange fruit presence, grapefruit orange rind mild at first with an elevating bittering that lingers and fades smoothly. Very low alcohol detection, very smoothly hoppy, not too sweet but a nice buttery carmel solid flavor with some spice/ pine/grapefruit/orange.Very,very nice and in my top 5 imperial ipa’s for shure.

Pours a hazy copper with white head. Aroma is intense floral, pine and tropical fruit. Very bitter, lots of pine and some floral hop flavors. Medium bodied and caramel malts even it out. Has a weird almost grainy mouthfeel. Some citrus and alot of spiceyness but not as much as I would expect. A awesome double IPA.

Appearance: crystal clear golden in color with generous head; Aroma: fruit (maybe pineapple?) and piney notes; Taste: piney and bitter, no noticeable malt in this beer; Overall: too dry and bitter for me. The aroma was promising but the beer is more bitter than I like.

Looks decent. Not much of a smell at all. Tastes good; much hopper than it smells. Mouthfeel is good. Solid, nut not special.

Deep amber clear pour thin creamy off white head lots of striped lacing ..... aroma of piney and citrusy hops, hop oils and bitter rinds .... taste is bitter and rindy, but just right so that the piney/citrusy hops come through .... mouthfeel is oily .... some caramel malt on the backend but a nice evenflow of bitter hops from beginning till the dry lingering bite it givesin the finish .... solid and as advertised ... abv hidden well

Nice strong aroma of bitter IPA. Flavor is obviously bitter IPA... but when you add in lots of sugars from the high alcohol, its not that much a slap in the face. For a hop head... this is a dream... for a rookie a night mare. The head lingers and is impressive.

12oz bottle from Antioch Fine Wine & Liquors. Pours a crystal clear amber color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, grassy, pine. A little heavy on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bread, with a grassy, bitter hop finish.

Tulip at ITAP on release day. A nice looking beer that had plenty of copper and brown. Opaque. A big citrus nose jumped from the glass. That was also tasted and it is big. Bitterness is significant, too. Caramel malts almost keep up. My palate died happy.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2012 12 oz bottle from Total Wine and More in Western Henrico. The ale poured a very attractive copper color with a nice but not excessive head that laced down the glass. This is major IPA. The higher ABV and IBU make for a classic beverage. The alcohol is well desguised and the citrus aroma hits you immediately. The beer is well balancd and definitely an ale to sip and enjoy. The carbonation is average and the ale has much character. The finish leaves you wanting for more. What is the next from Green Flash? Had another on draught at Mekong in Richmond. An excellent IPA,
