Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of floral hops, earthy hops, sticky hops, and more hops. Did I mention it’s big on hops? Taste is just as expected, BITTER. There’s some nice malt balance in there and some grapefruit and citrus notes as well, but the hop bitterness never lets up. I rather enjoy this brew quite a bit, and the perfect 5 for palate is basically in honor of the label doing what it says it will. I’m wrecked...

Drank from bottle. Smells of grapefruit, resin, and hay. Tastes of pine, grass, citrus, and bread. A little toasty at the end. Real bitter aftertaste, medium carb, medium bodied. Okay brew

On tap at BTBF 2014. I’ve probably had this beer from a bottle 3-4 times now, but I finally get around to rating it with my first time having it on tap. Deep gold appearance with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma is of dank hops, pine, light onion, and heavy citrus. Taste is very dank, resin, light booze, pine, onion and toffee.

12oz bottle from The Beer Store Wilson. Dark orange (almost amber) hue, with mostly diminishing fizzy off-white head. Good lacing. Heavy citrus hop, definately grapefruit, maybe some apricot or other light citrus friut? Moderate bitter citrus hop up front with a light bitter average hop finish. Lively carbonation on the palate. I put this as my second favorite DIPA behind Pliny The Elder. I thought this was just a straight forward DIPA that wasn’t trying to be to complex that hit the nail on the head in my opinion. This was a great surprise to try this last night. This will be my go to DIPA in the future. Thanks Green Flash this was outstanding!!

I have had the opportunity to sample many beers while traveling the world, but I must say this is one of the best IPA’s I have enjoyed. The color is a nice light amber and the palate is excellent. I do not like an IPA to be too malty, but it should be crisp. This beer has an nice smooth mouth feel and feels just right on my palate. I had an opportunity to have a pint at the brewery and a bomber. With so many good IPA’s in the US it is difficult to fault any, but this one is exceptional.

Pours a deep orange with a thin white head and lacing. It has a rich aroma of pine resin with some floral and citrus notes and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is a punch in the face of resin up front with a malty, bitter backbone and long, bitter finish over a heavy body. It definitely lives up to its name. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle that is 16 months old according to the bottle on date pours a very cloudy copper orange color with minimal head. Resiny piney aroma with some sweet caramel sent as well. Has a nice malt hops balance with a bit of a harsh bitter after after taste.

Bottle. Unique west coast IPA taste. Sweet and tart, with just the right citrus. Thin head and hazy dark brownish yellow body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Just what you would expect, heavy on the hops with a strong citrus taste, orange, white grapefruity taste with a strong bitter finish. The aroma was a nice strong citrus greeting on the nose that leads right to the taste. My only down comment was that the aftertaste lingered way longer than I would have liked. Overall a nice west coast IPA for a east coast guy.
