COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isn’t for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

It pours dark golden with lacing. The aroma features powerful citrus aromas with spruce and floral elements. The flavors feature a greater floral bite with spruce, citrus, and fruit peel. It is extremely hoppy with a high bitter feel on the palate.Overall the combinations of hops and well complimented.

On tap. No detailed notes - entering from earlier tasting. They tell you exactly what’s going to happen here - not the honey or caramel you find in a lit of imperials, just hops and pine for days. Drink last and have some rich food ready.

Bottle. Mother Kelly’s, Bethnall Green. Clear amber. Film of sticky, white head. Punchy, spicy, greasy, resinous hop. Herby, minty, toffee malts. Taste is minty sweet. Turns big, herbal, resinous bitter. Full, chewy palate. Finishes long, oily, pine resin bitter. Doesn’t feel the ABV. Very nice.

Beautiful stuff. Full aroma full bodied huge hoppy bitterness. Pours a medium cloudy golden straw with thin head. Somehow smooth and soft on the nose - banana? With citrus. But whacks you on the nose with flavour. Strong lingering bitterness. Love it.

Bottle from The Drinkery, Londonderry NH. Aroma is very hoppy--resin, floral, grassy, herbs but, surprisingly, there is also a malty bread, yeasty dough and a little bit of cheese smell. Appearance is hazy light brown with finger-width off-white creamy head with fair retention and mild lacing. Taste is initial mild sweetness in an almost unfinished wort way which is then battered by tons of bitter. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and mostly bitter but lightly citrusy finish. Overall, a complex aroma with a pretty nice look and pleasing palate that just isn’t my cup of tea in terms of taste.

OK, this beer is definitely hop forward. So much so that the hop flavor overpowers the malt flavor of this high gravity Imperial IP Ale. That said, one can easily justify skipping salad with ones dinner and order and extra burger and not feel the least bit guilty. There is a floral garden of hops in a pint of this grog. Not for the faint of heart.

Intense sweetish but floral beginning. Lots of hops on an extreme viscous basis. Floral pine and citrus with lots of fresh and green hops. The sweetness is not too intense and the hops are in the foreground. Round and smooth with a sharp hoppy-floral finish that fits great into the picture. Bitter-sweet ending with lots of pine and hints of citrus. A great aggressively hopped Imperial IPA!

Side of the bottle reads "Enjoy by 23 Jun 15." This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy bronzed color with a slight orange tint along the sides of the glass. There was a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light lacing speckles and slides into a nice spiderweb clingy-ness. The smell has a sweet grapefruit over top of a light caramel malt, and then a lingering grassy to citrus rind bitterness. The taste has a bittersweet combination of sorts of grapefruit rind, pith and a super dry bitter citrus aftertaste leading to a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice session to sipping quality about it. Carbonated nicely as a DIPA, bitterness punch overtakes the carbonation as it should. Overall, this DIPA does everything it should and lives up to its name. I’d have again.
