Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamiltonís Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. Itís the most complicated West CoastĖinspired IPA we have ever brewedómashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). By popular demand, it is now released for the world to enjoy (even though this beer isnít for everyone, only the real hop heads!!!). Cheers! - Chuck Silva - Brewmaster - Green Flash Brewing

First time. Wow! Everything they said it would be. Very bitter, peppery to the max, loved it. Hop head here, the name describes it perfectly. High alcohol and IBU but very balanced, one or two would be enough.

Aroma is heavy pine hops and honey malt sweetness. No detectable booze for 9.5 ABV. Great aroma, not complex but strong, sweet and hoppy at the same time. Brilliant light crimson color with a white clingy head. Sweet malt backbone up front in the taste, followed by intense pine hop bitterness, which I expected. The hop bitterness lasts well into the aftertaste before turning back into sweetness. Great palate for the style; slick and substantial, not at all watery. I canít believe Iím saying this, but this may be too hoppy even for me. More hoppy than Stone Ruination. Overall I like it, glad I tried it, but wish I was able to get 1 bottle rather than a 4 pack. From now on, this will be on the hoppy end of the spectrum when I am comparing IPAís to one another.

12oz bottle. Bright copper pour with a nice white head. Aroma is balanced with a lean toward the bitter hops. Very well balanced flavors and smooth body and finish. Good, but nothing really stands out.

12 oz bottle, best by June 12, 2015.
Hazy amber, thin beige head, sticky lace.
Aroma is all hops. Dank, earthy, citrus, maybe a bit of caramel malts, but mostly all hops.
Flavor is similar. All hops. Citrus, pine, earth, resin. Some sweet orange tries to keep the bitter in check, but mostly hop bomb. Good, but I prefer a more balanced DIPA.

Bottle from the store. Aroma is a refined grassy, lemon combo. Pour is brilliantly clear with a small white head. Reddish orange in color. The hops really shine in the flavor. A moderate and firm hop bitterness with a supporting malt back bone. Not out of balance. Taste is like orange jelly with a piney, pithy note to it, all in a good balance. No alcohol noted. Overall a very good DIPA.

Poured gloriously from a 12 oz bottle a slightly orange medium golden color. Smells citrusy ad sweet, but underneath hints of musk. On the first sip I thought to myself this beer is throwing seven kinds of bitter. Like a symphony, the notes hit you one after another: bitter, citrus, bitter, pine bitter, smoke, bitter, bitter. Strangely, as you try to rub the bitter off your tongue against the roof of your mouth, you can't wait for the next gulp. The beer transitions as the glass empties. More fruit, heavier mouth feel, maybe even maple, always bitter. I know when I drink it again the experience will be different, and that is the testimony of a wrecked palate.

From bottle. Great bright copper color, very nice head retention. Extremely sharp grapefruit and pine aroma. Obviously, almost no malt shines through in flavor. Nice tangerine grapefruit start, bursts into an extraordinarily hoppy finish. Very potent. Quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Clear copper with big off white head. Aroma: tropical mango, grapefruit, and pine. Taste: bitter (no surprise there). Caramel malt initially then hops: pine, mango, and bitter (did I mention that already). Aptly named beer makes me happy! Could be used as an instrument of torture for hop haters.

Amber-orange pour, nice off white head. Mild citrus aroma. Flavor is big on citrus, grass, tropical fruit, and pine. Exceedingly bitter. Delicious.

Looking at all the ratings, I was expecting something really good...and while this was good, itís not the best IPA Iíve had by far. It almost seems like a bit of a gimmick. Was it bad? No. But Iím not going to rage about how good it was either.
