(Pendant le ’’Calm before the sorm’’ ŕ Stone Liberty Station): Grande chaleur, tannins et fumées dans un liquide aminci qui respire le caramel brűlé. Faut aimer l’assaut tourbé inconditionnellement.

Bottle at Liberty Station. Pours ruby copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes very dry, like scotch, ash, dried fruits, woody. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like booze, ash, smoke, dried fruits, wood.

Bottle shared by Sparky! Peaty, tart cherry skin, ash, oak, malty, and some mineral. Just not a huge fan!

"Whoa...this is the leel of peaty malty goodness I was hoping for in the base, or even the original whiskey version. While those were adequately malty and fruity, they lacked the peat. I’m not looking for a smoke monster, and this was not one. But it is a ridiculously drinkable as balanced beer, especially at 12.5%! Aroma and taste of charred oak, peat, apple and other fruit. Little show of alcohol, though its a sipper. Love this beer. Wish it was a locally available option, and I’m VERY curious about the batch 2 blend. Kudos Stone. "

Bottle purchased in San Diego. I’ve waited over a year to try this beer and it does not disappoint. A strange and different beer. Big, malty, smoky with even a sourness to it. Aromas of whiskey barrel and the pour is cloudy, dark amber. Not sure where the tartness is coming from, but I’m liking it especially as it warms.

500 ml bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of smoke, toffee, fruitiness, light caramel and light oak. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, smoke, iodine, light caramel, light fruitiness and light oak with a smooth dry lingering smokey finish.

Bottle @ Brewbies 2014. Dark brown pour with a small khaki head. Smells of roasted malt, apple, peat, and mushrooms. Sharp alcohol, some caramel, and old, dusty chocolate. Not a terribly pleasant aroma and the flavor isn’t much better. Acidic apple with a weird mushroom earthiness. Peat, soap, and harsh whiskey. Mild roasted malt, some caramel, and cocoa dust. Scroll past.

>> Clear deep red pour, low foam. Nose is really intense Scotch barrel, brown sugar, tomato, mildew, mushrooms. Taste is ash, mildew, uncooked mushrooms, formaldehyde. Chemical, dizzying.

500 c&c from CraftShack. Pours dark clear copper (strong light) with a transient, slight beige head. Aroma is rather expended fireworks than scotch! Near full bodied. Flavor is charcoal/sulpher, with oak and peat. Which sort of explains the fireworks aroma. Certainly not what was expected, but explains the relatively low rating. With time I think the Islay is dominating, so it’s something like Brewdog Paradox. Tho perhaps lighter. Another challenging ale from Stone.

Bottle - Malty, oaky, fruity and oh so complex. Clear amber with a beige head. Lots of wood, bit of smoke and long oaky finish.
