COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone President/Senior Brewmaster Steve Wagner loves Scotch whisky with strong peat smoke flavours. He selected Islay Scotch whisky barrels for their robust smoke and brine character, and Highland and Lowland Scotch barrels to round out the blend with vanilla and caramel tones for an intensely complex and malty beer.

Bottle - not very good unless you like a ton of smoke and band aids. Peat seems artificial. Pass if you get the chance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really dug this, though I couldn;t imagine not sharing this. Reddish Brown pour, no head. Big smokey aroma. Taste of scotch whisky is unmistakeable with lighter hints of vanilla. Reminds me of drinking a nice scotch with a cube of ice. Virtually no carbonation here.

Heavy peat aroma here. Very smokey with even a note of cheese. Beautiful beer - all the more so because I didn’t usually like Scotch Ale. Pours reddish brown with no head or lace. Really nice bite of scotch from barrel as well. Taste has a little sweetness. Light carbonation. Booze well hidden. Thanks to John for getting a hold of this.

Lots of smoke in aroma and in taste, this feels like a real scotch. Grows on me with complexity. Good carbonation, some red wine like taste. Reddish brown colour no head. Good drinkability. Thanks John for scoring this for the team from Craftshack.

Thanks to jhogan for this amazing extra. Dark brown pour. Aroma and tastea is almost straight up scotch whiskey without the heat. Lots of peat, some smoke, a touch of vanilla. Smooth finish. Mouthfeel is thinner than most of the ba beers im used to but average for a scotch ale. Very good stuff.

Bottle. Clear reddish brown with almost no head. Rich caramel, malt, scotch whiskey aroma. Really nice balance between the caramel sweetness with a hint of orange and the peaty scotch. Finishes with earthy, smoke and leather flavors. Silky, smooth palate. Nice.

Bottle. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, earthy smoke and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smoke sweet whisky flavor with medium to heavy earthy smoke sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is better version complex beer.

same deep amber color. Aroma of whiskey, with a distinct smoke bbq tone. The malt is present, but the flavor profile is very similar to a peated scotch. Very enjoyable, and it’s awesome to see how different it can be from blend 1

Tasted on the Stone Brewing Co patio at night. Copper pour. Smoky peaty aroma. This one is really peary, and smells like rain after a forest fire. Hickory and cloves up front fading to molasses and burnt sugar. Many well balanced elements here.
