COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If Green Flash were founded in historical Belgium, Rayon Vert would have been our flagship brew. A bold layering of hops finds balance from traditional malts. Bottle conditioning with fresh ale yeast and Brettanomyces finishes the beer, adding a delightful effervescence, dryness and continuously evolving character. Rayon Vert is Green Flash.

Bottle from Rickís in Alexandria. Served in a Green Flash Rayon Vert chalice. Pours a nice, fairly-clear amber color with a nice off-white head. Good retention of the foamy white head. Some lacing on the way down and a good cap and collar throughout. The nose carries some moderate hopping as well as a nice fruitiness and light earthy character. Great presence in the nose, really serving to complement the hops. Flavor brings a nice bit of fruity hops along with some earth, light malt, and some Brett through the background. Body is light-to-medium with a good bitterness and a nice bit of Brett and earth to really round things out. Quite dry through the finish. This is a really fantastic beer and Iím beyond excited that itís year round. This is finally an off-the-shelf year-round beer that is worthy of sitting beside sixers of Two Hearted in my fridge. Bravo, Green Flash.

Bottle. Murky gold with ridiculous head that just doesnít disappear. Earthy, citrus-y, yeasty, grassy, funky. Some noticeable alcohol.

Bottle. Poured amber with a rocky off-white head. Aroma of yeast, Brett, spice, leather, and dark fruits. The flavor found spice (light pepper), Brett, and yeast. Medium body with a spice and yeast aftertaste.

Like Orval? Say hello to its little friend. Just donít use a tulip, the head is a little out of control and just rockets out of the glass.

12 oz bottle. Purchased from 16th Ave. Pours a hazy orange amber with a light head. Hops and citrus to the nose with maybe a bit of toffee. Nice light malt with oranges and lemons to taste. Fruity. Nice overall balance though leaning towards the hops. A good beer.

12 ounce bottle pour. Orangish color with a white head that fades. Nice fresh Brett taste. Tastes like a homeless mans Orval.

The beer pours a golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma is very nice. I get a ton of brett, as well as some nice leather notes. Hidden in the background are some spice and orange citrus notes. The flavor is more of the same. What stands out the most is the brett and orange notes, but there is also quite a bit of leather and white pepper mixed in. The beer is very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very, very nice.

Well, I love Green Flash brews, maybe this was just a poor evaluation after the Hess IPA, but to me Rayon Vert translated into green plastic and I could not shake that association. I am thinking this is more likely a classic Belgian pale with a little overexuberance on the hops rather than the more trendy IPA with a Belgian yeast and so may rating may reflect different expectations.
