Bottle. Hop Hideout. Clear, burnished copper. Thin, off white, lasting head. Huge orange, piny, dirty, grapefruit aroma. Taste is fairly bitter, with some spicy dryness. Chewy palate. A bit greasy. A bit slick. Boozy and heady. Finishes long bitter. Spicy end. Very full on. Very tasty. Loppy beer, this.

Bottle @ home. Deep amber pour with a light haze and khaki head. Sweet caramel malts, some pineapple, and plenty of grapefruit. Slight orange and some pine. Flavor has sort of a chalky bitterness to go along with the pine. Lots of sweet caramel and some brown sugar. Good citric bite on the back end. Some hints of melon. Nice enough, though a bit sweet.

On tap at Cantwells. Dark amber pour, frothy head. Hops on the nose and flavor profile are spicy, earthy and slightly citric. Caramel malt base with a notable grainy rye presence adds a good bit of sweetness to compensate for a moderate hoppiness. Not cloying, but sweet. Overall, it’s just downright tasty. The flavors blend exceedingly well. You can feel every bit of the 9+% abv. I enjoyed this one immensely.

CelticBrew (771) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - SEP 12, 2014
Pours from 12 oz bottle a dark and clear coppery-brown, bordering on mahogany with a very thick and fairly persistent cragley head. Aroma is strong with spicy hop aromatics, some caramel and tropical fruits. Flavour is of grapefruit, caramel and dark fruit leading to an initially sweet sticky finish but then on to a bitter chocolate ending. Rye is obviously present. A strong double from GF, happiness awaits.

Poured from a bottle it is a cloudy golden and has a head. The aroma is celery. And the taste is strong bitter and tastes hoppy with not much of a taste

reebtogi (4180) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 7, 2014
12oz tulip glass on tap at Beer Revolution’s Edmonton location pours brown in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with some grainy notes. Taste is a grainy malt sweetness balanced nicely with a bold grapefruit and pine hop bitterness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Very enjoyable.
