4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a deep garnet with a big fluffy head with very nice lacing. Soft nose and in the mouth it is very well balanced. Could have used just a tad more spice from the rye.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma pine, grapefruit and mint. The flavor is grapefruit, rye, earthiness, tropical fruit and a rather dry/bitter finish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
The most amazing thing ever! I could swim in this beer. Incredible malt depth and balanced with just the right amount of hop, alcohol while strong is masked completely by the rich grandma’s rye bread. So well balanced! I hope they continue to brew this seasonal for-e-ver. OK, only thing lacking is head is a bit weak, if only they could add some oatmeal specialty grain to the recipe creamy it out.

The dark red/brown liquid flows from the bottle into my tulip with two fingers of an ample, soft, off-white head. The aroma is heavy pine resin, caramel and warm grapefruit, signifying the excellent bouquet of a strong DIPA. Sipping at first to sample, and then a full mouthful brings bold rye to the back of my tongue, slipping under and delivering that nice little pop that I’ve come to anticipate with a good IPA. The rye is nice, not overly aggressive and very flavorful. The finish is long and comfortable, with just a small (grinning) edge and just enough to keep me coming back to bring the taste back to its climax again.
Definitely a brew I will purchase regularly. A go-to for DIPA in my cold case!

4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to medium sized yellow tan colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent cola brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The sharp mildly vinous mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a burning vinous aftertaste. The semi-thick flavor contained notes of bitter rye vinous spices Irish red malt caramel and hops. A wonderful best in class brew.

from Erzbierschof - pours a hazy ruby-brown beer with a fast elusive foam; aroma of red fruits marmalade; piney hoppiness, full-bodied, sticky and assertive, hugely bitter, light chewy, tart and corny; long piney and resiney finish with fruity notes of plums - robust stuff

Not as hoppy as it smells. However Julie is not a fan ex specially of the rye. She gives a 1.5
