Pours a deep ruby, quickly dissipating head, subtle aroma. Shocked this is 9%, very smooth rye IIPA. Awful packaging/design, but the contents are top notch. Glad I have several more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft: Woody, almond nose. Clear copper, medium yellow head. Oak flavor with cedary highlights. Finishes with grapefruit and orange peel. Medium body, soft carbonation. Woody, but clean and sharp. Excellent!

Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours amber with a small beige head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and slightly earthy with caramel, sweet dark bread, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, resinous wood, moist grass, alcohol and orange peal. Taste is sweet and slightly earthy with caramel, toffee, grapefruit rinds, moist grass, resinous wood, alcohol and orange peal. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter and tiny earthy with caramel, grapefruit rinds, pine needles, resinous wood, moist grass, black pepper corns, cardboard and orange peal. Old and rather sticky…

12 ounce bottle. Deep orange, copper color. Large rocky beige head. Nice pine and grapefruit hop nose. Big chewy toasted rye and caramel malt backbone. Resiny pine hops dominate upfront. Dry complex spicy hop finish. Warming alcohol presence. Very good.

Bottle. Copper-brown pour with a nice frothy head that fades to a thick ring and leaves awesome lacing. Aroma is a great mix of heavy rye bread and biscuits with pine, flowers, and light grapefruit. Tastes moderately sweet and pretty malty up front. Rye, caramel, toffee, and biscuits. Finishes hoppier with lots of pine, grass, and flowers. Light bitterness. Medium to full body. The sweetness wore on me a bit and it started getting pretty harsh as it warmed. Not super smooth either. More of a sipper DIPA.

[Bottle (12oz)] Pours a deep ruby with a large lasting foamy tan head. Some lacing on the glass. Nice hoppy aroma, piney, fruity and resiny -- along with some spicy rye malt in the back. Flavour is equally hoppy and malty, a bit sweet but not overly, and with a long average bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Very good.

Sweet malt aroma. Clear dark amber with a persistent off-white head. On the initial taste, I would have guessed this to be an American barleywine as it’s very malt forward with caramel/molasses sweetness and a strong hop bitterness. However, both the body and the bitterness aren’t in line with this. Hops are earthy and very spicy although some of this might be the rye. The spiciness is almost overwhelming but the alcohol steps in and transitions it to the sweet malt in the background. This is a very full bodied and full flavored beer that gets better and more delicious as you drink it.
