Brownish pour with a khaki head. Extremely woody aroma. Lots of oak, some brandy, and a decent vanilla character. There’s a lot of walnuts, caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit. The flavor is really heavy on the walnut character too. Big charred oak flavor, caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit sweetness to balance that out. Mild brandy, some vanilla, and a hint of chocolate. Pretty boozy, particularly as it warms.

JW with the awesome share on the 4th of July. Thanks John. Pours an amber color, tan head. Boozy, sweet, vanilla, toasted oak, brown sugar, golden raisins, caramel. Pretty good but not mind blowing.

Bottle... Lightly hazed, dark copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is of caramel with a light splash of brandy. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. The flavor supplies the caramel and brandy promised by the bouquet. Not exceedingly sweet or boozy. Well-blended and very enjoyable. Thanks to richiesd for supplying the bottle!

500mL at SDBW kickoff. Pours a clear, deep red. Excellent foam. Nose is mild savory meat, heavy vanilla, spicy tamarind, hoppy/india red ale or Sierra Nevada style barleywine. Taste is spicy imperial red ale style, dense cake, big vanilla. Sharp, hoppy, balanced palate. Well done.

Dogbrick (7687) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 2, 2013
This brew pours a dark mahogany color with a medium thick and foamy khaki head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, brandy and molasses. Full, rich and boozy body with flavors of roasted malt, oak, vanilla and dark fruit. The finish is oaky bourbon and burnt malt with a lingering boozy aftertaste. Very good beer all around.

Bottle:   Thanks to mrcentaur for the bottle.   Deep burnt caramel in color, moderate light beige head, foamy, little lacing.   Big caramel, bready, and dark pitted fruit nose.   In fact, its very prune like, with heaps of figs, golden raisins, and caramel maltiness.   Loads of dark pitted fruit and caramel on the tongue.   Huge amount of prune juice on the back side.   This one is unique in that seems to have a huge amount of prune to it.   The 12.5% ABV is amazingly well hidden.   This simply comes across as a malty/caramel like dark pitted fruit like drink.   Not so sure about the barrel aging, unless the barrel was a friggen prune!   In all seriousness, body and mouthfeel are full to moderate.   Finish is chalk full of dark pitted fruit (mostly prune juice) and caramel/toffee like malts.   Low bitterness, except perhaps that fruit skin like bitterness we all experience with fruit that’s too young.   Different, but enjoyable.   Hides the ABV dangerously well.   Brandy aged?   I guess I could somewhat see that...

Pour on tap at GABF, dark brownish red pour with off white head, aroma brought big bourbon, oak, vanilla, into slight earth, spice notes, nice thick caramel, toffee and dark sugary malts, hints of dark fruit in there as well. Taste is a mix of bourbon, oak, slight spice into sweet toffee, dark fruits, slight vanilla, finishing with a hint of grass and spice, though still sweet.

mcberko (6054) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 20, 2013
12 oz. bottle, sent from TigerBrew (thanks a lot, Cesar), pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium tan head. Aroma is complex, full of rich dark dried fruits, caramel malts, and brandy barrels. Flavour brings out the brandy barrels upfront - the brandy certainly dominates, with secondary flavours of dark dried fruits (especially raisins), and some caramel malt. Rich and flavourful with the brandy dominating. However, this is almost no hint of the 12.5% ABV. Excellent stuff.

During RBWG 2013. Bottle shared by me from a trade with TigerBrew, I think. Deep amber brown pour with a nice tan head. Awesome rich BA aroma and flavor - fudge, wood, whiskey, vanilla, oak, etc. - with lots of dark fruits, molasses, brown sugar, and goodness underneath from the base. I’m digging their BA stuff!

12 ounce bottle thanks to Stawn. Pours a deep red/brown color with a large creamy beige head. A wonderful fruity brandy nose, superb, sugary and woody. Rich dry flavors with huge grapes, heat, caramel, brown sugar, some berries. Very good, the nose is amazing.
