COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The working man’s porter, a careful malt mix of Pale, Munich, Biscuit, Chocolate, Crystal and Roasted! Together with a 35 IBU dose of East Kent Goldings, the brew is rich in flavour with a delightful roast malt character with sturdy alcohol support.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep black pour. Creamy tan head that sticks around for a long time. The aroma is quite nice - lots of dark chocolatey malt character over a fairly light palate. Definite dark malt character but in a fairly light approachable body. A touch of light licorice as well as a bit of soft herbal/fruitiness. It’s kind of thin for the style and it comes across oddly clean - more like a schwarzbier or something... not really complaining though, just observing. There is also a touch of US hops on the back as it starts to warm.

Roasted notes on the aroma even a little wood. Pours brown with red tinges and a short tan head. Same burnt characters in the taste, coffee is there not really choclate though, a touch thin, maybe cocoa bit of crystal and some pencil shavings.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2011 On tap at The Monk. Pours brown with some red tinges. A small tan head is produced. Aroma is traditional roast malts and coffee. Not overly big or complex. Coffee makes up the bulk of the flavour with some upfront fruits as well. Very solid after re-rating this one

Served on tap at Pizza Port OB. The appearance is a brown black with a smaller beige head that is pretty creamy. The aromas are a bit muted. The tradition roasty malts you expect from a good porter. The flavors have some more too them. A medium roast malt base with good semi-sweet milk chocolate additions, some cereal grains, and a touch of like smoke too. The mouth is medium leaning a touch more to the full side of the spectrum. A bit creamy like fat-free milk. A basic but decently done porter.

I had thetraditional porter on tap at green flash. It is exactly what it says it it is, a traditional porter. Poured brown and smelled of roasted malt, a little chocolate, and a slight smokiness. Taste was the same. Very nice porter.
