bennylava (83), California, USA Apr 21, 2008 22oz. Pours hazy golden straw color with medium head. Spicy aroma and very tasty with clove and citrus flavors ... nice complexity to this brew. Excellent job again by Green Flash. I will stock up on this brew since Belgians are getting a little pricey.
Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle, The pour is orange colored. Aroma of citrus and some hop along with an overpowering smell of spice mainly clove, very good aroma. The taste is spicy with slight citrus. As it warms it becomes more creamy. I think this is very underrated at an 80. I would definitely buy again. This is one of the best abbeys I have had. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 3-21-08 bottle shared at tasting
Rich yellow in color with okay white head. Subtle malty citris smell. Nice tart funky flavor. The funk is subtle but is nice and creates a nice balance. Drinkable. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Apr 17, 2008 22 ounce bottle split into two Piraat goblets. Hazy golden orange with dissipating big bubble head. Honey orange peach aroma with yeast and mild alcohol. Honey orange spice flavors with mild bitterness and alcoholic finish. Lingering bitterness. Medium body and carbo. Decent tasting but a little much alcohol presence in the taste and lacks the soft mouthfeel of the best Belgian Tripels. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2008 Sample at Stone. This brew is a clear orange color with a thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast and bananas plus a bit of citrus. Full-bodied with flavors of yeast, banana and spices plus some yeast and hay. The finish is spicy with citrus and spice flavors and a yeast aftertaste. Pretty solid all around. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 12, 2008 Very nice trippel. Bready and yeasty with aroma of apricot skins and baking spices. Rich and full flavored. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Apr 7, 2008 On tap at PP solana. Cloudy golden with a thin white head. Smells of yeast, banana, and yeast. Sweet citrus fruit and spice. Very smooth on your palate. Cobweb lacing very cool. Good balanced long finish. Good tripel from a great brewery! GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 2, 2008 22oz 3rd Anniversary bottle. Poured a hazy light orange color. The head was white and reduced over a minute or two to a lasting film. No significant lace was left behind. The aroma was of clove and alcohol mostly with hints of nutmeg and citrus. It actually burned t nose ever so slightly. Light bodied and delicately sweet. There was a subdued warming alcohol effect and carbonation was on the higher end of the spectrum. I tasted some light ginger and clove accented by orange peel and biscuity malt. So so.
