3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerLimey (2136) - California, USA - MAR 10, 2006
Hazey golden appearance, decent head formation, fine carbonation. Fruity apple, winey, mild vinegarry nose. Crisp fruity palate, warming alcohol, sweet sugar, very slight spice but bery little complexity. Fits into the style buta big let down given the quality of the 2nd anniversary.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 droopy49 (97) - Lancaster, California, USA - MAR 9, 2006
22oz bottle poured a clear golden color with a nice fluffy white head. Good aroma with notes of banana, mint and spices. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a dry finish. Alcohol was well hidden. I thought it was a pretty decent Belgium triple, nothing spectacular but a good beer nonetheless.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Odeed (1749) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 12, 2006
poured a light orange body with very little white head.aroma was oats, yeast, earthy malts, and a bit of candy.flavor was a mix of earth, apples, yeast,a bit of roasted malts, and hops.overall pretty solid for an american brewed belgian.

Bottled. Pours a light orange/reddish color. Sweet yeasty aroma. Some grain and apples. Sweet and yeasty right up front. A little bit of a candy like flavor. A hint of alcohol as well.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - FEB 7, 2006
Not a bad bit of beer here. The pour looks like thin honey, a nice dark yellow color. I could smell hints of bubblegum, mint, green grape and sugar in the nose. Flavor was pretty much the same with a backing of clove and allspice. Even for a triple you couldn’t tell there was 8.5%, it was very well hidden. Nicely done.

Bomber. My first Green Flash beer and I was pleasantly surprised. Let it warm up a bit and the banana aroma came through. Nice light golden color with a full rich head that faded after the first few sips. Would stand up to spicy and garlickley foods. Good balance of carbonation. I’m sure the 8.5abv will help you see the green flash.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stubby (334) - Santee, California, USA - JAN 31, 2006
I liked it. Can’t get a whole lot of aroma, which is odd. Must be my nose. Strange aftertaste of licorice at the end of the bottle. Or could it be the 8.5 getting to me? More "Belgian" than many American made Belgian styles. Judicious amount of bittering hops. Like I said, I liked it. Would definitely buy again.

01.30.06 Bomber thanks to DarkElf. Golden orange color is admittedly odd looking, totally clear, and with some persistent eff below a thin but lasting head of loose white bubbles. Aroma is hugely yeasty and spicy like a banana nut bread without the banana. Some marzipan, fresh cut grass (saison like), muscat grape, and rotting peaches. Feels warm and broad with little eff but smooth and filling. Retronasal alcohol and more yeast (lingering). Moderately dry finish, maple, emerging banana.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2007 Bottle:A firm golden colored abbey ale with a thin patch of foam on top. Aroma is kightly spiced with clove and pepper and also has a faint background of fruit. The drink is strong in its flavor with overpowering yeast and spice. The spice can be summed up to both pepper and pine with a strange background of cologne. Afteratse is also a little metallic and finishing with some hop.
April 25th, 2007 follow up: I found a place who still had a few bottles hidden in their cooler of this stuff so i was excited to revisit it. The beer has become somewhat hazy with sediment but maintains a thick patch of film still. The ale has started to calm down and work its rough edges of yeast over load out. Very smooth and remaining flavorful but it has kept a small background of air freshner or cologne that i noticed from this abbey tripel the first time around. None the less this has improved with a year under its belt and i look forward to see how its doing in the near future.
