GreatLibations (1241), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Updated: Jan 13, 2007Pours copper w/ a full, creamy froth. Very Belgian. Aromas of malted banana spice. Full nectar w/ ample, mellow residual effers creating an almost oily texture. Very nice. Rich and malty w/ a moderate sweetness. Generous flavors of thick malted banana, gum, pears, vanilla, red licorice, and caramel apple. All this finshed off w/ a delicate asprin bittering that really hangs in there along w/ the sweet fruit meat. Overall: a true Belgian expression from CA. This brew is a meal unto itself. Watch out Piraat! Connoissuers choice. Highly recommended. ***Anniversary 3 scores 4.6*** Pours pale honey w/ a shallow creamy froth. Aroma of angle food cake, cinnamon, and malted medicine. Medium to full nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors of cake bread, banana, Christmas spices, and slight medicine. A complex, well balanced brew. The alcohol is hidden until it warms, then you get it n the finish. Highly recommended. Haslinger (464), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle, The pour is orange colored. Aroma of citrus and some hop along with an overpowering smell of spice mainly clove, very good aroma. The taste is spicy with slight citrus. As it warms it becomes more creamy. I think this is very underrated at an 80. I would definitely buy again. This is one of the best abbeys I have had. doubleo (675), San Diego, California, USA Dec 23, 2007 Bomber of the 2005 Anniversary Trippel. Pours a cloudy amber color. Thin white head with smallish bubbles. Not a whole lot of nose to this beer. I can smell the malt and the alcohol. It smells alot like it tastes, but it tastes better than it smells, so ha ha. I love the taste of this beer. It is one of my favorite examples of a Belgian style. Palate is smooth with a little tingle and a lingering finish. Like I said this is one of my favorites. It is much more crisp than your average beer with a cork. A SoCal twist on a Belgian style. Magjayran (1088), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 21, 2008 How wonderful. Birght golden color with a huge fluffy mountain of a head. Honey, pineapple, banana, and allspice in the aroma. Flavor is extremely sweet and fruity with no trace of alcohol. Makes me feel good about myself. Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA Oct 23, 2006 Courtesy of Pailhead. Brightgolden copper with nice white head that fades to wispy film. Aroma nice fruit ester character balanced by a yeasty, bready malt background. Old musty hops present as well. Flavor again tons of citrus, orange, tangerine up front. Big yeast and read flavors through the middle. Tons of residuel sugar. Nice body and mouthfeel. Well done overall, and way surprised at the overall score for this one.
