As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

Poured from tap at Sunset Grill dark amber with a thick tan head. Aromas of dank citrus resin and hop. Taste follows and has a nice lingering bitterness.

Bottle poured into a Lagunitas jar. I’m not keen on the (mainly) West Coast high IBU, lingering bitterness type of IPA’s. And what can you say, here’s another one. This leaves my mouth tasting like something the dog dragged in, and in need of a rinse. Glad I only bought one. To me, hops are a nice addition to beers and ales when used in moderation, not the be-all and end-all of the brewing process. But evidently lots of people, and brewers, would disagree.

Kind of disappointed here. Think I like the old version better. This one ends up having an odd finish that almost simulates wet cardboard and I know this is fresh brew.

This is pretty excellent. A strong bitter hop finish. Really lasts with you for a long time. A zesty hop flavor. Yum.

Green Flash’s revamped West Coast IPA 8.1% Fruity aroma with a sharp pine needle aroma. The taste is very bitter with pine over layed with fruity grapefruit & orange rinds. Pretty good but I don’t see why they needed to change the recipe.

Poured into a snifter. Dark amber with a thick tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with floral hops. Flavor is mildly sweet and bready with some citrusy and resinous hop notes. There seems to be some diacetyl present as well. Medium to full bodied with nice bittering. Good overall but the diacetyl note I'm picking up is a little off-putting.

Not that great. Bottle not dated. Maybe was old. Not impressed with this brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle in Seattle. Deep coppery orange with a thick foamy head. Dense orange citrus and earthy pine. Heavy, a bit of resin, but just enough citrus to lift it. Big, strong beer that is almost the definition of a big west coast IPA. I won’t drink this often but I’ll use this as an example for my friends for sure.

Aroma is pine, tropical fruit, some strange mint, although it could be from my surroundings. Appearance is amber golden, off white head. Taste is...pine and mint. That?s really weird. Some tropical fruit. Weird. Mouthfeel is crisp and medium body, with a menthol aftertaste. Overall, this is weird. It?s like chewing on spearmint leaves. I was told the line it was on used to feature a mint stout, so that explains it.

WYGLĄD: Barwa ciemnozłota, zamglone. Piana drobna, wysoka, długa. Pięknie oblepia szkło.
AROMAT: Intensywny. Mocno cytrusowe (grejpfrut, limonka).
