As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

Third time I’ve it. Bitter herb and malt overpower fruity notes. Viscous bout not overly so. Finishes bitter in the back of the throat. Won’t seek it out again.

Pours a dark clear orange color with a thick white head. Nice hoppy aroma citrus and pine and neither are overly strong. Strong piney flavor with a good dose of bitterness. A good IPA that makes me want to sample more of their beers in the future.

Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, clove and citrus. Taste is a light sweet maltiness with a fairly pronounced bitterness that has clove and tarty aftertaste that lingers somewhat long. Appearance is a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Solid enough IPA. The beer has a big flavor but the aroma wasn’t overwhelming or anything. I would drink it anytime its around.

Nowhere near as good as the first, older version. This new recipe is a bit off-balanced for my liking. I feel it’s way too malty. There’s certainly enough hops in the beer, but the sweet, bready and alcohol-fueled malts overpower them. It might be nit-picking, but I think the color is a bit off too. I think it’s a little to dark for the style. Thankfully I only got the sampler with eight of these bottles in the case.

12 oz bottle. Aroma: malty, with hints of caramel and resin. Taste/Palate: crisp; starts sweet, and finishes with a long bitterness. Another perfect beer with a fantastic malt/hop balance! These guys sure know how to brew...now if we could only make them stop with this "session" shit that they are doing...

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 2/20
murran (242) - - DEC 10, 2014
Pours a redish amber body with a thin head. Odd aroma, a bit like a belgian ale. Unbalanded but rather interesting taste.

Bière fortement houblonné. Malheureusement, elle n’offre rien d’autre que ce goût de houblon et de façon moins puissante que d’autres bières de ce genre.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20
Ulysse (121) - Brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 6, 2014
Amber colour. Underwhelming aroma for a five hops beer including citra hop. On the honey side of the glass. Overwhelming Sticky bitterness.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20

Copper light amber. Pungent resinony aroma with some light fruit, toasty malt and some caramel. Resiony hop taste with some mildly sweet maltiness, strong resin and pine in bitter.
