(This is the new recipe for West Coast IPA, now an Imperial IPA)

If you are drinking this one in Europe, chances are you should be rating under this entry:

As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Aroma is citrus, floral and vaguely boozy. Flavor is bigger includes citrus, pine, resin, tea and pear. Malt back is barely there but fits just fine. All in all I prefer this to the original single and find it worthy of its roots.

12fl.oz. bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a small, frothy, off-white head that laces. Fruity, hop aroma of grapefruit, mango, caramel malt and light pine needles. Sweet flavour of tropical fruit, grapefruit, caramel malt and pine needles with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium to full body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Dangerously drinkable. The ABV is well hidden. A solid brew.

This is a great IPA. Poured from bottle, hops, hops, hops, hops and hops. The nose is complex with note of sweet citrus and pine up front the taste is beautifully layered, one has to appreciate such delicate nuances. Spend time with this wondrous IPA, I can pick out all five hops and yet on another sip I am stunned by the delicious harmony.

I love the slightly hazy amber in the color. The aroma is a sweet floral hoppy bouquet. A citrusy, stormy hop jumps into you mind. Super fun, pretty intense with a wonderful lingering bitter orange splash. Love it.

As advertised, this is a multi-faceted hop forward double. It starts with a pungent hoppy nose, fresh and zesty. All the expected hop elements are there -- citrus, tropical fruit, pine and grapefruit. The malt is understated but balancing. A touch of grassiness and a hint of juicy grapes completes a very tasty double IPA.
