(This is the new recipe for West Coast IPA, now an Imperial IPA)

If you are drinking this one in Europe, chances are you should be rating under this entry:

As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Aroma is citrus, floral and vaguely boozy. Flavor is bigger includes citrus, pine, resin, tea and pear. Malt back is barely there but fits just fine. All in all I prefer this to the original single and find it worthy of its roots.

bottle. Golden with one finger head. Big hoppy IPA with loads of west coast style hops over a medium body with substantial caramel malt. This is pretty good, but I can’t rate this as highly as I rated the pre-2014 version.

One of the smoothest double IPA's I've come across. Pours a nice tarnished bronze appearance with a fresh fluffy head. Aroma of resiny pacific hops, as expected. Flavor has grapefruit, citrus, pine cone, syrupy malt, bitter finish, par for the style. Texture is medium bodied and very soft on the palate, enjoyable. No booziness. Sticks on the palate afterward but with a grapefruity aftertaste. A solid DIPA as expected.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: finger white head, amber color, clear, good lacing. Aroma: heavy caramel, grapefruit, lemon, and heavy floral. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish, sticky texture. Taste: sweet caramel on into a plethora of hops bitterness, floral and pine notes are heavy. Overall, very smooth, very bitter but well balanced and very good. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a large frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus and earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

On draft at Hot Z’s, Landisville, PA. Served in a shaker glass, pours hazy amber orange, retained a billowy one finger head when served at a table. Very nice lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus. Taste is hoppy bitter with a slight caramel sweet backbone. Full bodied, lively carbonation, sticky mouth feel. Finishes long and bitter. Tasting notes of caramel, grapefruit, tangerine, flowers, lemon and pine. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. An excellent IPA! Well done.
