(This is the new recipe for West Coast IPA, now an Imperial IPA)

If you are drinking this one in Europe, chances are you should be rating under this entry:

As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Aroma is citrus, floral and vaguely boozy. Flavor is bigger includes citrus, pine, resin, tea and pear. Malt back is barely there but fits just fine. All in all I prefer this to the original single and find it worthy of its roots.

On casks at the brewery. Golden copper color. Thick soapy head. Aroma of malt, hops, alcohol, some dark fruits. Tast is very smooth of cognac, malt, dark fruits, bitter hops. Finish is bitter hops, booze. Nice!

Dark bronze color. Big floral hop aroma, dank piney notes & big malt profile

Clear bubbly orange-brown, small white head. Aroma pine and orange. Medium body, not much alcohol. Flavor moderately bitter, mostly bitter citrus and pine but with a pretty decent amount of sweet malts, more than I think of for "west coast" style. Solid nonetheless.

amber with off white head - Good hop aroma that has a good fruity tone - Good malt body to support a good hop profile that has a fruity flavour - The fruity hop goes into the finish that ends dry - this was real good

Draft. Pint. Nose is pretty citrus/orange forward. Was expecting more complex aroma since the tap handle has about 7 hops listed on t. Not piney at all. Very clear, orange pour. Taste is initially very bitter and pithy. Almost astringent bitterness. No sign of alcohol. Overall ok but just a bitter bomb with only a modest hop flavor character.

Softly hazed caramel amber pour. Placid pine and citrus, pineapple, wet flowers, peaches and apple. Flavor has a sturdy lightly toasted malt body with floral bite, ripe sweet grapefruit, papaya, pastel lemon skin, piney floral linger. It’s good. Not astonishing, but worth buying as your go-to.

Bottle - Slightly hazy golden colour, large and long lasting fluffy white head, fine lacing. Intense citrussy and resinous hops aromas with some lemon peel, tangerine and pine. Taste is first sweet malty with biscuit, honey and some caramel, then grapefruit, tangerine, and pine with decent bitterness. Medium body and carbonation, oily texture, decent hoppy finish with linering bitterness. Very enjoyable, highly recommended West Coast style IPA.

Alla spina. Dissetante e "classica" ma freschissima e ricca di note agrumate e resinose; robusta nel corpo e nello spirito, di generosa persistenza. Dopo i 48°C della Death Valley è stata una manna...
