(This is the new recipe for West Coast IPA, now an Imperial IPA)

If you are drinking this one in Europe, chances are you should be rating under this entry:

As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Aroma is citrus, floral and vaguely boozy. Flavor is bigger includes citrus, pine, resin, tea and pear. Malt back is barely there but fits just fine. All in all I prefer this to the original single and find it worthy of its roots.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked best by 02/10/16. Slightly cloudy medium amber-orange pour under a decent head. Big aroma of citrus, tropical, and grapefruit hops. Low malt character. The body is medium. The taste espouses a nice hop character right to the end. Mild to moderate bitterness. Peat moss. Not bad but nothing extraordinary.

Pours clear orange/gold with a medium off white head. Aroma is grass, pine, alcohol. Taste is bitter hops, way too bitter with not much balance. This is my second try with this beer. I didn’t care for it the first time but didn’t rate it at the time, gave it another shot. I won’t try it again, there are many better DIPAs out there.

12oz into super glass. Pours a red Amber orange. Fair lacing, medium head, cloud white, clings to glass nicely. Aroma of pine, bitter malts, grass, hoppy goodness, dry and bitter orange, slight mango, squished tangerine. Taste of frontal bitter hops, malts of the same, more bitterness, orange interchanges, more bitter, nice since hop slap in the end followed by citra, or all at once, its good. Bitter and dry aftertaste, followed by sweet hop questioning. More so an overall bitter dipa, but good. Abv is distant yet acceptable.

Clear golden body with amber lacing. Huge lasting white head. Strong tropical fruity flavours, pine, citrus and light caramel notes. Flavour of pine, citrus, caramel, light dried fruit notes. Good bitter backbone. Long bitter finish, citrusy and quite dry. A pleasing IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at ICC. Pours slightly hazy amber, white head. Aroma is dank hops, sweetness. Flavor is bitter, tropical fruity, layered hops, and a well balanced maltiness to boot. Quite well balanced and drinkable for an 8.1% DIPA. Excellent.

Tap @ Jacks Bar at the Cannery. San Francisco. Reddish brown, decent head. Resin citrus fruit aroma. Dry grain rye hop flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Bit too dry for me.
