UPDATED: NOV 21, 2006 12 oz bottle. Clear orange with a frothy bone head; some stays. Honey and faint citrus. Pineapple-grapefruit, a little brown sugar, increasingly bitter peppery pith. Oily drying. Elmer’s glue aftertaste. Columbus? Pretty nice until that final note.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 NephrenKa (27) - Ft. Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 9, 2006
The creamy head hides the very cloudy, honey bronze color beneath. The nose is of bitter hay, either toasted or burnt. This is a RICH tasting IPA, very creamy. The initial strength passes to a fizzy middle flavor, followed by a bitter sour-malt flavor at the end. Overall, a great winter IPA, although it’s awfully heavy.

12-oz.; thanks, Tever! Pours garnet-amber under the light, but more copper-colored in a darker room. Hazy and particulated. Gorgeous and rustic-looking. Delectable. Huge sudsy off-white head. Big grapefruit aromas, with some nice pine and just clean very lightly floral scents in there as well. Medium body with carb approaching the high side of things. Nice rich malty palate with swirling delights of grapefruit and general citric fruity tang--very orange-y, too. Strong but clean and drinkable, nothing out of balance. A little bit of pucker at the very end of the long bitter, slightly resin-y (but mostly pine-y) finish. Great stuff.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dorwart (2266) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - OCT 26, 2006
Large off white head of medium to large bubbles. Reduces slowly. Nice bright copper colored amber with lots of wispy hops pieces floating around in it. Nice bitter grapefruit and hops aroma with some caramel malts and a hint of spice. Very bitter flavor but not harsh. More grapefruit and some pine. Succulent and juicy and makes the mouth salivate. Little malt for balance and sweetness but is overshadowed by the big bitterness. Finish is long and bitter with a slight roasty taste. Slightly chalky. A very good and very bitter IPA.
