3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottled) Slightly hazy golden with a medium, frothy and lacy head. Very hoppy, but somewhat harsh aroma with some toffeeish hops. Strong grapefruity-piney hops also in the flavor, but the overall harshness is disturbing. Some maltiness backing it up, but not enough. Medium-bodied, very bitter palate with medium carbonation. A quite Severin-like brew with too much cat-pee to be fully enjoyable.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2008 Bottle. Grapefruit! Grapefruit nose, cringingly bitter grapefruit flavor, long-lasting finish/afteraste that feels like a continuous trickle of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice across my tongue and cheeks. Devilishly luscious.

Bottle in Aarhus. Hazy golden color, loads of debris floating around. Lovely fruity aroma, grapefruit, hop. Very bitter taste, quite dry, almost astringent. Nice stuff.

Was eager to try this after I learned it was awarded with best IPA at the first National IPA Championship. Bottle... poured gorgeous, unfiltered orange and a white head. Sharp hops with fruits like citrus and peaches on the nose. Foamy palate that clings to the tongue. Pretty much like liquid hops, with an attacking alcohol presence thatís kept in control by the grassy spices and pine and wood flavors. Itís not the best IPA that I have enjoyed, but top notch.

Big ups to Hogtownharry for providing me with this Gem! Thanks man! Bottle pours a deep and transparent coper with a duvel style rocky white cap that does not want to go away. Nice sticky lace left behind as well. The nose is assaulted with pine and grapefruit, cookie dough and lemon, grass and floral notes. These all come together and blend well to create a fantastic aroma. The taste is big bitter piney hops with lemon and grapefruit, toffee and caramel malts, alongside a blast of floral goodness. Dry, chewy, lots of resin, and tasty as heck. Dangerously drinkable at 7%. Wow, thanks for this one Harry!

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2012 My Bottom Line:
A bountiful bouquet of pine and flower petals is supported by soft biscuity cereals until green, resinous hop bitterness effortlessly elevates this West Coast IPA to the styleís quintessence.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Fluffy foam decorates the lightly hazy amber.
-The finishing bitterness is not overwhelming, just perfectly levelled with the rest of the hop presence.
-The body is healthy and eminently drinkable.
-Sandy hop connotations appear as well (from the Simcoe?).

Pours a hazy hold with a frothy white head that leaves huge amounts of lacing. The aroma is citrus and pine to the core. Itís so fresh and sweet though. Really enjoyable aroma. The flavor is a bit unbalanced though. There definitely arenít enough malts to cover up a really long brutal bitter finish. With the exception of the overcompensation of hops in flavor, this beer is impeccable.

12 oz.bottle in trade from stoutlover72. Into the shaker it went- poured slightly turbid dark orange, very nice white head - one finger to the end- slowly bubbled away, medium lacing. Low carbonation, aroma of earth, pine, and floral hops. HIts the mouth with a medium body, malt is very detectable throughout the swallow, hops come in the middle and last well past the swallow, finish has an enjoyable acidity to it. Very well balanced and very enjoyable.
