COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editorís Note: If you had the 8.1% abv version marketed since 2014 as a Double India Pale Ale, this is the wrong beer page. Please rate under Green Flash West Coast IPA (2014 -).

This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma.

Rich orange-amber in colour, long lasting creamy off-white coloured head, excellent lacing. The aroma is incredibly hoppy woth lots of pine, grapefruit and oranges, floral, caramel sweetness. The flavour is again very hoppy, lots of citrus and pine, some sweetness is also kicking around here. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes very dry, long and very hoppy. This was very hoppy from start to finish, very dry, not much in terms of balance either.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>kmweaver, thanks Ken.

This is a fabulous beer. Bought as a twelve oz bottle from bottle trek, poured into a pint. Poured as a nice gold/coppery slightly cloudy with a rich rocky white head. The aroma was intense, grassy and citrusy. The hop flavor was overpowering with a creamy malty background. Incredibly rich and dense flavors that really lasted. I was really wishing I had ordered more. Great beer.

From a bottle. Pours a copper color with small white head. Aroma is of grassy/piney hops, some sweet grapefruit citrus hops, and a little floral hops poking thorugh. Same thing comes though on the taste. Pretty tasty brew.

Great aroma of pine citrus and the hint of peach (from the simcoe I believe). This one loses out a bit in the middle and end, a bit too bitter and the hops seem to vanish (relatively speaking of course). A bit of a disappointment after that smell.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2008 12oz bottle: pours a hazy light brown with a nice white head that quickly fades. aroma has a strong fresh hop smell. flavor is very high on the IBU scale but the slap you in the face hop bite fades after every sip. very well made beer but could use more CO2.

A good IPA. Well balanced and endearing. Everything that an IPA needs to be is present, but without it being too much. Right up there with Alesmithís for sure.

12oz bottle: Pours an autumn amber with a whipped head that offers plenty of lacing. The hops used here, from the nose to the body, are bright and defined. The combo of Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe are a knockout punch, with the perfect blend of tropical fruit, tangerine, orange, grapefruit as well as fresh cut grass, lemongrass and cut roses. A slight increase in crystal malt would offer a better cushion to the bitterness, but I canít complain. This is one of the best IPAs Iíve had.

An awesome IPA...even better than Stones in my opinion. Very full flavored malt and palate. Copper color small almost no head only bad part. Greta Zest as it syas in description and great balance. Almost perfect

12oz bottle. Copper colored with a fluffy off-white head. Herbal and citrus aroma. Medium body, crisp. Dry finish. The hops really kick in on the end. Could use more on the malt, or less on the hop for balance.

Bought this 12oz bottle in Florida while on vacation this past November-drank back in Ireland. Pours a nice copper color with a large white foamy head that slowly settled to a 1/2 finger foam that stayed with the entire drink as it went down. Initial smells are largely piney and hoppy. Taste is strongly of hops and citrus with pine hints, just like the smells indicates. It is a bit too much for me, borderline bitter. Not a full beer, but definitely has some body to it and a decent mouthfeel. I donít think that I could drink more than one of these in a sitting as it really isnít my favorite style, but I am glad that I tried it and would recommend to those looking for a west coast IPA.
