Editor’s Note: If you had the 8.1% abv version marketed since 2014 as a Double India Pale Ale, this is the wrong beer page. Please rate under Green Flash West Coast IPA (2014 -).

This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma.

Slightly cloudy light copper color with a thick white head that leaves behind a good deal of lacing. Crisp floral/grassy hop aroma. Medium-bodied palate. Nice lingering hop finish with some dryness. Good malt character to back up as well.

Tried at Green Flash’s tasting room with my friend Joel from work. A good beer, but an average IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2008 like chewin on a sugar coated pine cone. (yes i know). super hoppy and really too sweet. out of balance but strangely drinkable6/4/6/3/13 is equal to 3.2

re-rate on tap @ papago... hazed brownish gold with a foamy white head and rings of pillowy lacing. aromas of pine, citrus and grapefruit pith stand out in front of grainy sweetness. the flavor is caramel-y grain sweetness... sugar added as a last ditch effort to balance it out and make sense of it?.... tastes like a sugary pine cone mixed with the bitterness from grapefruit. it’s certainly hoppy... it’s sweet and bitter but not necessarily dry. that’s what makes it weird for me... 8/4/6/3/13 is equal to 3.4

very good beer. Nice dry hop flavor. Strong in every respect...& you have to respect that. If you like hops you’ll lov ethis. This beer isn’t very well balanced though, but for a hophead......balance is not a real issue

Murky brown orange color with a creamy off white head. Fresh hoppy nose of pine and orange peel. Big hop taste in this big IPA. Tons of sweet grapefruit, pine resin, apple sauce, orange juice and peach. Solid bready malts to support it all. Long bitter finish of grapefruit rind. Full mouthfeel, and a well hidden 7% ABV. This is an aggressive PNW IPA, and a very tastey beer. I’m glad I have two bottles of this.

Nice, slightly cloudy copper color, frothy lasting head. Oh the nose! Huge hop aroma with pine and citrus - nose runs the gamut. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Nice lemon/grapefruit hop flavor. Just enough sweet maltiness to balance. Very nicely done.

Huge citrus grapefruit. Beer pours an orange brown color with a creamy head. Flavor is initially grapefruit followed by alot of piney resin. Not alot of malt backbone, maybe a little vanilla flavor but not too much at all. Not hard to drink. Finishes somewhat dry and resiny on the palate. I had with some ahi and it accompanied the wasabi nicely. A good example of the West Coast style.

bager (2121) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - APR 23, 2007
Bottled. Hazy amber coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Well balanced with notes of malt, caramel, hops, pine, grass, citrus and a nice dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2008 Big floral pine and citrus nose with just a very slight metallic note. Big and full mouthfeel that is very astringent. Nice lingering oily hop finish.
