thenick (583), North Bellmore, New York, USA Mar 23, 2008 Tap. Pours a clear golden-orange with a medium head. Aroma is fruity hops with a slight citrus characteristic as well. Taste is the same with some slight caramel malt sweetness right at the end. Finishes with a sharp hop bitterness and no detectable alcohol....Very enjoyable.
jhumphries69 (537), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Oct 13, 2008 Draft at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica, CA. Pours a clear, deep orange with an offwhite head. The aroma is super-hoppy. I expected the variety to be Chinook - but I’m not surprised to read Simcoe and Columbus. The flavor follows the aroma: lots of green hops, sweet malts, and toffee. The finish is resiny bitter with bready crystal malts. The mouthfeel is full in body and softly but crisply bubbled. Overall, a super-hoppy IPA - very nice. AmEricanbrew (1018), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Sep 29, 2008 08.13.2008 bottling date. Clear copper with a tight tan head. Big ass fucking bong party aroma of fresh ganja bud. Medium body. Huge ibu bitter flavors of grapefruit and floral hops, with just a touch of malty sweetness. Somebody should make an air freshener that smells like this stuff, fantastic aroma. Derek881 (349), Frederick, Maryland, USA Sep 26, 2008 Sampled from the bottle, and was one of the best IPAs I have ever had. The aroma was hop-dominated, with earthy, pine, and citrus notes all mixed together, with a touch of floral and fruity notes too. Rich amber-orange color with a good-sized, creamy, off-white head with ample retention. Great hop flavor, with some of the citrus components shining through; extremely bitter, in a good way. The body was super dry, yet had a heavy, full mouthfeel, with ample carbonation and a good bit of cling. This style of beer is not one of my favorites, but this beer was exceptional. Thanks for sharing Eric! BrotherGrendel (189), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours a moderately clear orange amber hue with a thick creamy white head that sustains with sticky lacing.
Nose is subdued pine and earthiness, a touch of sweet fruit, surprising grainy malt aroma for the style.
Taste is caramel and grain malts in conjunction with mild pine resin and grassy-earthy hops, a touch of citrus fruit and malt sweetness midway, finishes dry and bitter.
Palate is medium-bodied, slick watery texture, moderate carbonation.
Overall, a west coast style IPA with a surprising malt presence and slightly subdued hop presence that increases from start to finish, bitterness is present throughout and malts mostly compliment the hop backbone. jujubeast6000 (503), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 21, 2008 (bottle): Pours an amber clear body, creamy white head, huge but diminishing. Grapefruity aroma, some sweet maltiness. Somewhat smooth watery taste, bitter aftertaste. Okay but not much body.
