Cask@The Philarmonic, Liverpool. Clear dark amber colour with a small off white head. Pretty muted aroma with some sweet malts showing. A little sweetish fruit in the similarly malt led flavour which continued into the gently bitter finish. Inoffensive if a bit insipid.

Cask (gravity) - The Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft. A clear copper coloured beer with a fine, loose & bubbly white leaving a scattered lace. Juicy orange aroma with a hint of red apple. Good, juicy sweet fruits on the tongue with a light tang, a light biscuit malt note and a subtle, dryish hop bitterness in the finish. Fair session stuff: light to medium body, soft mouthfeel with a lingering though delicate bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2011
Cask (handpump) at the Three Guineas, Reading on 27 April 2011. This seems to be a replacement for the Excelsior Golden Ale (previously a spring seasonal) that will be available year round. Exactly how it differs (apart from a lower ABV) is not entirely clear. Seemed more gold than brown to me so let’s settle on amber. Quite fruity and a little sharp - lemony citrus in evidence. Light biscuity malt underneath. A decent light quaffer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hughie (3993) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 3, 2011
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Copper amber with a small white head. Sweet malt aroma and straightforward malty taste. Mid bitter finish. Utterly ordinary in a good way.
