Cask at The Bow Bar. Pours dark chestnut brown, decent off-white head. Light toffee aromas, some light fruity notes. Taste has more of the same. Decent, if a little thin.

On tap at the Bow Bar winter festival. Appearance - black but not opaque. Some brown edges. Nose - a bit reclusive at first but eventually notes of chocolate and biscuits come through. Taste - more of the same. The flavours become more pronounced as you go down the glass Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry malty and pleasant finish. Overall - slightly confused as to what separates this from a bitter.

Cask (CWAF2012)
Dark reddy brown. Sweetish creamy stuff with roast finish. Honey aroma. Smooth palate. Honey in the taste too, that builds over time. Phil likes it, but gets oregano, which is a bit weird.

Cask conditioned at The Wig & Pen, Northampton. Chestnut with white head. Fruity, roasty beer, some drying roast nut flavour leading to a drying bitterness. Lasting on the palate. Very decent.

Cask at the Edgar Wallace. Pours a clear, copper-ruby with a foamy, off-white head. Great aroma, nice pine and citrus, some straw. Nothing like an old ale...Pretty well balanced flavor. Has some bread, faint fruits, mild grass, light sugar. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly bitter finish, faint plastic, some wood and earth, mild citrus hops. Like a bitter, not an old ale. Can’t help but think this beer was mislabled.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Loads of beers shared with ChrisO and Harrisoni - Cheers! Clear dark amber beer. Residual tan head. Light dry palate. A little toffee malt and quite a vibrant orange in the dry hoppy finish.

Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #18 at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival on 3 February 2011. Toffee is prominent in the aroma. Touch of burnt tar. Lots of caramel malt on the palate. Toffee quite marked in the flavour too. Hints of sharp fruit. Sweetish. Mouthfeel is a little dull and flat.

sm89walt (1777) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 3, 2011
Cask - The Kings Head, Norwich. Poured with a fading though mostly lasting bubbly white head atop a deep and clear chestnut brown body. Red fruit, toffee & toasted malt aromas with some lighter biscuit notes. Some nice red fruits again on the tongue, roasty malts, coffee, earth & toffee. Soft mouthfeel, medium body with a short to medium length finish, a relatively dry finish and a lingering sweet malty aftertaste.
