on tap oured a slightly cloudy rich amber with a nice off-white head that would leave a fair amount of lacing. The aroma was a nicely balanced malt and hops sensation, if a bit underpowered. A good easy flavor just barely sweet upfront with a light bitter finish that lingers gently. It is smooth with a barely perceptible tingle in the mouth.

Draft at blue monk. Caramel colored pour, full creamy body fill white head, nice lacing. Sweet malt aroma. Mild flavor of caramel malts and English maltiness. Ok

Appearance: Amber color with a thick white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Malty, light hoppy and fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft carbonation. Creamy texture.
Taste: Toffee, mild hoppy and fruity.
Overall impression: Ok handpull ale.

Pint at the Tilley Stone Gateshead. Ripe red fruit aroma, bags of fruit and nut toffee flavour balanced by a bitter finish. Dry , biscuity palate. One of the better bitters.

On tap @ the Haymarket Bar. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose has a nice combination of dark malts and fresh hoppiness. The taste confirms this to be raisins with just a hint of chocolate then a nice floral finish. The palate is well balanced - medium bodied and textured with a nice clean finish. Overall, a good example of an English Best Bitter.

Pours a murky amber with a lacy dense white head, not much on aroma small amounts of dark malt, Taste is light roasted malt, with a bitter coffee edge (been pushed out to soon) it's young. Growing on me

Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in February 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale copper in colour with a thin pale buff head. The aroma has a sulphurous earthy pungency about it which reminds me of Belhaven 80/ a bit! Excellent lacing throughout. Thin but creamy mouthfeel. Pale malt base gives a roasted rye bread base with a distinctive Rivetta crispbread note. Slight hint of burnt toffee in there but fleeting. Short note of earthy hop resins detected in the brief aftertaste. Finish is malty and slightly dry with a wood smoke flavour coming through. An ok session bitter.

Cask,hand pulled at The Post Office Vaults,Birmingham 29th january
Poured a copper colour with a medium sized off white head.Malt and fruity hops in the aroma which also came through in the taste along with some caramel.Easy to drink session beer.

Cask @ Monks Retreat. A good, solid, traditional, bitter. Crystal malts, lightly hopped with very English tasting hops. Reminded me how good "boring brown bitter" can be when it’s done well, and this one definitely is.

Dark golden with a thin off white head that retains well.
Nose is light hops, malt, summer fruits.
Taste is malt forward, orchard fruit, some hop presence, light grass.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter dry finish.
