3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the brewery, served in a taster. Pours a clear orange with a medium off-white head. Notes of leaves, grass, hay, and toasted malts. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. Good, but I liked the Buxton marginally better.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 12 ounce bottle purchased at The Veggie Wagon, Carolina Beach, North Carolina, tasted on August 8, 2013. Medium and slightly hazy amber color, very small tan head, aroma of mustiness and firm malt, bittersweet flavor with somewhat intrusive carbonation and chemical notes but even discounting those flaws the taste lacks the character of an ESB. Call it a bitter, perhaps.

Very solid, warm malty, easy going beer. Really feels nice, but a little too light on flavor

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a light copper color, with a small off-white head which rapidly dissipates. Not much aroma detected. Tastes like a classic ESB, but with a thin mouthfeel and no noticeable hop finish. An OK session beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle from Lowes in Hickory, NC. Copper pour. Roasty, nutty aroma. Tastes are toasted malt, caramel, coffee, nutty, floral. Not sure how well this matches up within the style, but it’s crisp and tasty in general. 7.2

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is my go to Asheville beer when I want something that is full of flavor but not wanting something that smashes my face. Easy drinking English bitter and a nice malty backbone and subtle, hop aroma and flavor. I haven’t found much difference between bottle and draft so that makes me even happier when drinking it. Good solid beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep amber with a thin white head. Aroma is a bit of citrus zest, honey, and a little bit of hops. Taste is pretty well balanced. Lightly toasted malts, a hint of sweetness, and a little bit of bitterness from the hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and on the lighter side. Might be slightly under-carbonated but overall has a good feel on the palate. The taste and the body is very similar to a brown ale to me.
Overall this is a very drinkable beer. It lacks the complexity to really stick out from the crowd but that does not mean that it is not enjoyable. You could easily sit down a drink a few of these in one sitting.
