Beer #10 Asheville trip. Medium amber in appearance, nice head. Light aroma of caramel. Flavor is light caramel, with some pleasant fruitiness. Dry on the finish. I usually don’t go much for ESB’s, but this was quite solid. Sampled at Jack in the Wood on tap.

Not good. It may have been the keg. Sour aroma, weak watery palate. Indistinct flavor.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 On tap. Dark copper-brown with a thin disc of foam. Mild caramel apple and toasted grain aromas. Flavor has earthy caramel apple, toasted grains and nut, and a touch of cinnamon in the finish. Light-medium body is well balanced with a crisp finish and has light-medium carbonation.

Intriguing aroma and attractive amber pour with a semi-flat taste and changing mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Pours brown amber with wispy beige head. The aroma is caramel, nutty with some coffee and earthy notes. The flavor is nutty, mild fruity esters, with some caramel and coffee. Decent ESB.

From tap: Redish / dark brown pour. Toasted caramel aroma. Taste is mostly roasted malt with a hint of bittering. Medium body.

Tap in Asheville. Deep unfiltered amber-brown. Thin tan head. Quite an attempt at an English version. Dull, watery, some mild soapy hops and watery caramel. Smooth, malt dominated. Sort of like a Brown Ale. Uninspired.

Draft in a flight at the brewpub. This one was much maltier than I prefer and was a little tough in that way. Poured a nice amber color, though.

Murky, brown pour with little head. Aroma was roasted malts, nuts, and some coffee. The taste followed with just a little bit of the bitterness I was expecting. Smooth mouthfeel. Pretty decent stuff.
