3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 gvmdw7 (148) - California, USA - MAR 25, 2012
Poured a hazy amber color. Smelled of toffee and surprisingly, coffee. Primarily tasted of coffee and roasted malt. It was pretty good, but I wouldn’t call it an ESB.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 5, 2011
A reddish amber ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, light grassy malt, faint hops. In mouth, a nice grassy nutty malt, faint British hops, not bad. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 freekyp (1296) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - SEP 2, 2011
Pours deep brown with a well muscled white head. Sticky lacing. Nice balanced with an earthy malt character and fruity hops. Strong toffee in the nose. Perfect fade with light malt sweetness, some fruitiness (apple?), and a smack of mellow flavoring hops.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Shag (2283) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - AUG 27, 2011
Dark amber color with white head. Aroma contains some herbal notes, caramel, and toffee. Flavor is slightly bitter but mostly malty with some buscuit, caramel, and citrus. Overall this is pretty good.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 DiarmaidBHK (1528) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Pours amber from tap. Not a lot of aroma on the nose. A bit of caramel malt on the tongue. Finishes dry so the hops are in there even if you can’t taste them. Not my favorite style.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bjt512 (292) - Athens, Georgia, USA - AUG 12, 2011
On tap at Bouchon in Asheville, NC. This poured a pale russet brown color into a shaker and left virtually no lacing as I drank it down. Flavors of faint caramel, toffee, and, surprisingly, mangoes peeked through what was essentially a tasty session beer. Indeed, despite its brown ale coloring, this proved a refreshing thirst quencher after a full day hauling our 2-year-old son in a backpack. Overall, this is a nice interpretation of the style, with restrained hops in true English fashion.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3108) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 15, 2011
Quickie pint at Fullsteam while waiting for some delicious food from Kokyu. Nice amber pour with a fluffy head and moderate carbonation. Dry nutty notes ever so faintly detectable in an otherwise subtly malty nose with earthy dry hops. Mouthfeel is full, lightly playful, with a long smooth finish. Dug the flavors, as there was an interesting mild smoke that seemed to emerge as part of the nuttiness, and the hops were tealike and bitter, giving the whole a nicely balanced feel as well as a bit of distinction in the style.
