Pours a clear deep amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice earthy grain note with a bit of light grass but mainly earthy grains. Flavor is similar with earthy grains ANG grass with a hint of resin and sweetness.

Poured dark caramel brown with a thin, slightly off-white head. Aroma of caramel, soggy bread, light coffee. Flavor is malty sweet with hops shining through late. I prefer a hoppier ESB but this isn’t bad.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 maslupulos (39) - North Carolina, USA - APR 1, 2013
Finally! Green man in 12 oz bottles! Pours a hazy copper with thin lacy foam. Aroma of bread, coffee, chocolate, and apple. Great smooth taste with sweet caramel and toffee. Finishes with a bit of roast and even a hint of smokiness. Very drinkable yet complex. Excellent beer in a little seen style in the US craft scene. I love to see well done British styles of beer.

Gold brown pour. Smells and taste like roasted coffee malt and a little feuitiness. I like it.
3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BarleyandVine (15) - Stockbridge, Georgia, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Nice looking, but little aroma. Flavor is spot on with good hop flavors and supporting malt character. A bit of smokiness that was surprising.

Beer #10 Asheville trip. Medium amber in appearance, nice head. Light aroma of caramel. Flavor is light caramel, with some pleasant fruitiness. Dry on the finish. I usually don’t go much for ESB’s, but this was quite solid. Sampled at Jack in the Wood on tap.

Not good. It may have been the keg. Sour aroma, weak watery palate. Indistinct flavor.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 On tap. Dark copper-brown with a thin disc of foam. Mild caramel apple and toasted grain aromas. Flavor has earthy caramel apple, toasted grains and nut, and a touch of cinnamon in the finish. Light-medium body is well balanced with a crisp finish and has light-medium carbonation.
