picking up more of a bitterness in addition to the sweet grapefruit character, last batch was a bit better,

the citrus character has taken a bit of a backseat to the sweet crystal malt, still the nice light bitter finish

still a bit too much bitterness in the finish but almost enough sweet caramel and crystal malt to balance it,

Words: dirty jacks

Appearance: clear orange, creamy beige head, lots of thick drippy lace,
Aroma: huge fresh sugary sweet grapefruit aroma like a breakfast sunrise,
Body: creamy body,
Flavor: sweet crystal malt flavor is perfectly balanced by the citrus hops, light balancing bitternes stays out of the way of the wonderful robust hop flavor, light bitter finish is a dim reminder of the past wonders,
Overall: john has this one dialed in perfectly

On tap at Jack of the Wood, Asheville NC, 6 July 2006 at 5.8%. Hazy orange colour. Having seen which hops are used after tasting this, it is not surprising it is not a big pine, citrus and perfume hop explosion. But it does have plenty of spicy, tangy, bitter hop presence and does not degenerate into the "hop juice" feel that heavy hopping with these varieties can produce. In short an assertive, firm, but very drinkable IPA, if not in the usual American vein.

On draught at 12 South Taproom. Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of herbal hops, citrus and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, citrus and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent all around.
