COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English in style, it is “monster-hopped,” with English malts plus a special honey malt from Canada, Target and Kent Goldings hops added five times during the brewing process. This orange-amber ale is strong in both flavor and alcohol!

At least I assume I have the right IPA. It was on cask at the brewery, and the beertender told me it was the normal IPA with minor additions when it is casked. I am rating it high because it is the best cask ale I have had in the US. I miss the heck out of real ale and this guy is really trying to get it right, and coming very close.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2008 a good subtle session IPA. has a piney front with mild hoppiness and a good finish, i had this from a growler fresh of the tap... good stuff UPDATED. Had on cask and wow does this beer go well on task, the mouthfeel was wonderful on this, and the flavors really perk on cask, a definite grab if you see this on cask.

Draft at the brewpub. Classic amber color with a thin top. This delivers with a very hoppy character, snappy and full of that beloved acid. Great full bodied background. (#4311, 10/5/2011)

UPDATED: APR 7, 2011 Had on tap as part of local flight at Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Really good IPA. Nicely balanced- like it even more now that I know it has honey malt from Canada :) Hoppy in a nice balanced way. Probably my favourite of the 4 local brews.

Had this beer on tap at Duckworth’s in Mooresville. Consumed on 9/20/10. Reviewed from notes. Came out a murky dark amber with a slight reddish hue on the edges. A large creamy beige head rested on top. Pretty lace sticks around. The nose pretty basic for the style. Some minor floral tones, mild citrus, and a sweet balanced finish. The body had moderate depth; decent carbonation. Easy drinker. Not too filling. Not a sharp IPA by any means. The hops are tamed down a bit. Well-balanced with toffee sweetness and mild citrus flavors. This is not a ’hop-heads’ IPA, but it is easily accessible and good. I liked it.

Tap. I could tell by the second the bartender set the pint down, this is a man’s beer. Deep orange-red amber color, resiny, syrupy, tan film of a head. whoo-ha. Aroma of pine and honey. I am definately in Asheville,NC. Flavor is a rich and heavy malt character, slowly followed by the bold bitterness of citrus hops. Hints of chocolate. Wonderful and delicious. Finishes with a nice grapefruit. Super nice lacing. Other raters comment on a watery texture, not found. Full flavored, Medium bodied. Gold Medal!

Draft at Jack of the Wood. Pours orange-copper. Bread crust aroma with earthy hops. Bittersweet with hints of dark malt. Earthy hops with soft touches of pine and citrus. Bitter finish. Overall - excellent.

Solid brew pub IPA. Good malt backbone and some prominent hops. Very quaffable, especially in the laidback setting of one of Asheville’s best brew pubs. The food at Jack is excellent, too, by the way.

On draft at Jack of the Wood, Asheville. Poured deep amber with eggshell white head. Plenty of lace. Sweet and malty with plenty of resinous pine and grapefruit flavor. Nice IPA.

I was suprised to find this where I did and quickly picked it up for a party I was heading to. Hope profile is very pleasant and on the spicey and herbal side of the equation. Surprised to see it is an english hop profile since the presence was so pronounced. A nice medium bodied and slighlty sweet malt presence. A good and entertaining drink from start to finish.
