COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English in style, it is “monster-hopped,” with English malts plus a special honey malt from Canada, Target and Kent Goldings hops added five times during the brewing process. This orange-amber ale is strong in both flavor and alcohol!

Dark amber color. Malty and full-bodied for an IPA, but without any cloying sweetness. Bready with just a hint of honey. Resinous hops with some spruce, grass and pine. Medium to high bitterness.

Asheville, NC - Bruisin’ Ales - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, slightly hazy, wispy snow white head that sticks around a while. Aroma is earthy and green with some light piney accents. Flavor is delectable with some light toffee and caramel, pleasant hoppiness not overblown with too much sticky citrus - just enough. Back end has some malty biscuit-like bready notes. Nice, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

On tap at Jack of the Wood. It poured a hazy dark golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was of citrus and hay with a malty backend. The taste was of hops, lemon, straw, and a lightly acidic bitter finish.

On draft. Dense lacing. Flavors of good, but also honey malts, and it is these that win out. Probably too much so... but ask me again in the fall.

From bottle. Pours an amber hue with a small off-white head. Light aroma, earthy hops, some floral aspects, a metallic hint, bready, and caramel. Taste is same with decent but subtle hops, touches of earthy, floral, and citrus, balanced towards malty with doughiness and caramel. Ok ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber pour, decent sized head. Toffee, woody, malt forward. Maybe a bit earthy. Slightly metallic as well. Medium body. Bottle may have some age on it.

Don’t really consider this an English style, as the label says. It smells a bit like toffee. The malt is interesting - milder than an English style, and finishes cleanly. Not bad, but not my favorite.

Draft at the brewery, served in a taster. Pours a semi-cloudy bright gold with a small eggshell colored head that leaves spots of lace. Notes of grass, florals, citrus, and hay - simple and bitter. Light-bodied, with a dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Better than the 1914, but still fell a little short of expectations.

Bottle--I’ve always liked Green Man Brewery, so I’m happy to the 100th rater of the IPA. Copper color with a small head and medium carbonation. Solid hop aroma with some grass/earth aroma. Taste is hoppy up front and followed by malts. If that’s honey malt, I love it. The finish is smoother than a high hopped west coast IPA. Bruisin ales 2.00

Christmas gift from my mom. Nice biscuit malt, dry with good, lasting hop bitterness. Floral and citrus. American/English blend
