COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English in style, it is “monster-hopped,” with English malts plus a special honey malt from Canada, Target and Kent Goldings hops added five times during the brewing process. This orange-amber ale is strong in both flavor and alcohol!

Pours mostly clear gold with a tall white head. Citrus & pine hop aroma. The flavor is bitter and resiny with a nice dry finish.

On tap at green man brewing in Asheville NC. Green man ipa is a medium amber liquid with a firm white head of small bubbles. Nose is fairly strong with cedar hops. Taste is medium dry with hops to the fore and good bitters on the back end. A nice ipa.

An average IPA. A medium amount of hops in both the aroma and body with a medium-dry finish as well. Just okay, nothing memorable.

bottle. Okay IPA - seemed pretty simple overall - no real standout but okay

Bottle from Collin in Asheville...thanks! Pours a dark copper with a decent sized one-finger head. No real lacing. Aroma is a little muddled with a dank hoppiness, basement, hay, and mushroom. Taste is better than the aroma with a heavy malt backbone and then a bitter hop bomb on the back end. Malts, dank basement, leather, earth. Medium bodied, decent carb. Bitter hop finish. Not bad.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy dark copper with just a thin white head. Decent lacing, however, and a thin off-white cap on top of the beer. Aroma is very earthy with plenty of hints of toast and caramel. Some pine and overripe orange as well. Pretty good. The flavor has more of the piney earthiness expected from an English IPA. Nothing tropical at all about this. Just the slightest hint of fruit but it is more of the overripe variety. Bitterness is moderate to high but not too excessive. Lingering bitterness in the finish with a slight sweetness. Overall, this is a good, albeit fairly run of the mill, English IPA. Nice earthiness from the hops but lacks a bit of the maltiness complexity found in other examples. All in all a good beer.

Sample during RBWG Day 2, Asheville. Light amber color with a modest head. Peach and apple tart. Summery fruits. Toasty malt, accents of caramel. White peaches and apple. Simple stuff. Light bitterness, easy to drink. Soft carbonation. OK.

Orange-amber pour with a white head. The aroma has some resinous pine notes as well as some biscuit malt and toffee. The flavor is similar. There is a good bit of pine with some toffee, caramel and a hint of orange. The hops really come through nicely and add a decent amount of bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Asheville, NC - Bruisin’ Ales - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, slightly hazy, wispy snow white head that sticks around a while. Aroma is earthy and green with some light piney accents. Flavor is delectable with some light toffee and caramel, pleasant hoppiness not overblown with too much sticky citrus - just enough. Back end has some malty biscuit-like bready notes. Nice, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

On tap at Jack of the Wood. It poured a hazy dark golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was of citrus and hay with a malty backend. The taste was of hops, lemon, straw, and a lightly acidic bitter finish.

On draft. Dense lacing. Flavors of good, but also honey malts, and it is these that win out. Probably too much so... but ask me again in the fall.
