3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Tyler’s, Durham. Like my pals, I was pleasantly surprised by the relative brightness and complexity from a style (and brewery) I tend not to expect much from. Thick, robust dark brown pour with a nice creamy head. Nose was pleasantly hoppy and bright, with nice malts and modest roasted notes too. Silky, full bodied, but nothing overly syrupy. Flavors were not especially aggressive but managed to realize the integration promised in the nose, well hopped, appropriately sweet, and with just the right touch of bitterness in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint at Tyler’s Apex. Real good aroma, sweet. Fruity, mango, peach. Chocolate. Dark orangy brown color, good head and lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Medium body smooth creamy mouthfeel sweet roasty finish. Darn nice, considering the abv. Aroma had real good moments. But would fade in and out. Still very enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Tyler’s in Durham. Pours a dark slightly reddish brown with no head or lace. Nose is very nice; fresh citrus and tropical fruits, light cocoa and roast. Flavor is a little overly green and chalky, palate is also very thin which isn’t super surprising considering the lower gravity. A bit of roast and, green chalkiness in the finish but not overpowering. Could drink a couple pints of this if it was conditioned a little better.
