3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JCB (3804) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2011
On tap at The Federal, Durham. For all I know it could’ve been one of the other varieties listed in the database, but "Pale Ale" is what both chalkboard and waitron said. Bright pale copper pour, with fairly light carbonation. Isolated and large-ish bubbles rather than a foamy scrim. Dry fruit and hops in the nose, pale malts and leafy bitters. Mouthfeel is a bit of a letdown, prickly at first but then a bit watery. Flavors are quite dry for the most part, and refreshing for sure. But there wasn’t a huge amount going on here.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 cjl6 (57) - Rochester, New York, USA - APR 18, 2010
Had a pint at Jack of the Wood. I get the feeling this is aimed at the BMC crowd. Not very flavorful, pretty forgetful. Aroma is nice and with it being light you can have it refilled a few times and not get overpowered. I was just expecting more out of it.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 18, 2010
On tap at Jack of the Wood, Asheville NC, 6 July 2006 at 5.0%. Clear golden amber colour. Quite prominent citric hops in the aroma with some resinous touches. Stronger hop presence than I was expecting. Firm bitterness in the flavour with a more peppery, earthy hop character. Fairly light mouthfeel. A good drinking pint. More American than English in style.
