3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Unfortunately, I read the description of the beer first, and it tainted my rating. Anyway, poured dark brown with a slight red hue. Smells mostly of coffee and tastes the same. My only contribution is that it leaves a great roasted malt taste in your mouth.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2014 Actually a pretty nice porter. For abv a nice beer. Pretty good mouth feel with no chalkiness as some porters have. Just a sweet film on your mouth which is what you would desire. A very enjoyable beer to enjoy. Light nose. Flavors of chocolate and very light bitterness. fast fading head.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle, thanks to beerpig317. Labeled 6%, 40 IBU. Code on bottle reads 1236 14211. Black color. Thin off-white khaki kind of bubbly head. Leaves decent splotches of lace. Good dark chocolate, roast malt, some coffee. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of chewy texture, lighter carbonation. Very solid porter, with a nice bitter balance to the taste, without tasting obviously hopped. Good stuff. Great to enjoy with my sandwich.

9/15/14. Bottle. Pours deep mahogany w a nice mocha head the dissipates quickly. Mild roasty nose. Comes into its own with its rich chocolate and smoky coffee notes. Mouthfeel hits a great balance between a stout and other black ales.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle
Thanks to a generous trader for sending this a few months ago. Lurking in the back of the fridge it called out on a cool summer evening. A solid porter matches all expectations although it did feel as if there was room for improvement. Even so finishing the bottle was no trial.
Aroma / Appearance - A creamy ivory head crowned the rich chocolately base. Black coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, and a light airiness complete the texture of an iced mocha from the local coffee shop.
Flavor / Palate - Coffee, dark chocolate, and anise mix a caffeine fix with a sugar high. The creamy mouthfeel fills the palate without being overly cloying. A simple anise finish caps off a robust profile. While this might lack the ’wow’ factor it remains a solid sessionable porter. If it were a local offering I might buy a six pack every now and again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Collin for this one! Poured into a snifter at home. Brown pour with little opaqueness. Small head lasted 60 seconds. No lacing. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, roasty toasty malts, coffee, and botter baking chocolates. The taste is mostly chocolate, coffee, and caramel with a bitter finish. Light body for a porter, bitterness and flavors linger. Not bad at all though.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Glossy black pour with a quickly diminishing head that reduces to a ring of tan cream. Aroma is rich and chocolaty. The flavors are really where the magic happens. Tons of rich earthy chocolate and coffee. Smokey and fruity. Delicious and complex. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Asheville, NC - Bruisin’ Ales - 12 oz bottle. Pours a pitch black with an initial rocky, bubbly khaki colored head that dissipates quickly. Aroma has some creosote accents, a touch of just grounded coffee beans. Flavor is bold with some bittersweet baker’s chocolate. some day old black coffee, a finish of topsoil. Mouthfeel has a nice chalkiness to it. Been a a while since I had a solid every day English Porter with out something added to it or sweetened out to the max. Very enjoyable.
