3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Jack of the Wood, Asheville NC, 6 July 2006 at 5.4%. Dark brown colour - not entirely opaque - with a moderate beige head. Dry and quite roasted with some powdery cocoa. Not a pseudo-stout porter so some might find the mouthfeel a little light but I found it a decent, easy-drinking pint. Just a touch of lactic sourness on the finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at the brewpub on 2/3/08: Pours a nearly opaque black with dark mahogany hues and a well-lacing froth of light tan head. Sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose has some milk chocolate notes. Body starts with good fullness and rich sweet dark caramel maltiness balanced with some light hop bitterness before a smooth, bittersweet dark chocolate finish. A very nice porter.
