1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 DuffMan (4428) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 16, 2009
Finally I tuck into the little beer with the big bully problem! Nice to hear that a trademark law firm has taken up the fight (pro-bono I might add!) against DB’s ridiculous claim to possess the rights to "radler". GO GREEN MAN! I even got one of the proper original labels-- I have seen several liquor stores in which Green Man Radler has a white sticky label over the word "Radler" replacing it with the word "Cyclist". Anyway, on with the show: this beer poured very pale yellow with an average white head that was quite short-lived. Aroma was nearly identical to Canada Dry ginger ale soda. The flavour was much the same-- very sugary sweet, as one rater said very reminiscent of L&P, but with a doughy hint of malt in the back of the palate. This certainly was not my thing (I didn’t even finish it), but I wish Green Man every success in winning the freedom to continue to name their beer according to its proper style.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 26, 2008
Bottle. Pours a pale gold with no head. Smells like lemonade, and tastes like lemonade. Refreshing enough - but you have to try hard to detect the malt, though you are left with some on the palate in the finish. Has to rate low against "beer", but is probably a reasonable Radler.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 beerledgend (1050) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 19, 2009
Clear pale yellow colour with no head. Thin weak body, more like sprite than a beer.
1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bozoNZ (672) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 12, 2009
500ml bottle - blind tasted could be L & P. Pale straw yellow, has a diet lemonade feel about it. Could be true to style but I think the beer is left behind somewhere.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 donfardz64 (538) - Wellington, New Zealand, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 6, 2009
Pours pale golden, with thin white head which dissipates completely. Not very carbonated. Smells like lemonade. The lemonade flavours overtake the beer flavours. Refreshing but leaves an aftertaste like diet lemonade.
