Draft sample at the brewery, clear orangy-amber color with light tan head. Aroma notes of big citrus hops, grapefruity, some tropical, pine with light caramel malt sweetness backing. Taste adds orange/mango, slightly floral hop bitterness with nice malt balance. Medium-heavy body, moderate-low carbonation, dry, creamy with lingering citrus finish. Itís a heavy strong DIPA, very good.

750 ml. bottled 07/22/2015 and labeled as 9.3% abv (not the 9.9% currently listed). Pour is clear orange-amber with a thin creamy film that endures. Big nose of juicy grapefruit, orange, caramel and evergreen resin. Front taste begins smoothly with the same but finishes a bit rougher with toast, bitter green herb and mint. Medium-heavy body has smooth medium carbonation and a definite dry bias but not so bad for 158 IBU!

Had this at Jack of the Wood in Asheville. Pours a nice, golden orange with medium white head. The aroma is citrusy, earthy. The Taste is that of orange peel, grapefruit, floral, huge hops, light pine, light earthiness. Very nice IPA.

Pours slightly hazy golden apricot with a fairly thick eggshell head. Aroma is strongly hoppy with a grapefruit underpinning. Strongly hoppy flavor has firm resins and evergreen notes plus hints of sweet malt and citrus, the latter mainly grapefruit plus some Mandarin orange. Firm body has plenty of fizz to go around. Bring on the rain!

Draft at Jack in the Wood The D/IPA poured a clear amber color with off-white head and lacing. Grapefruit is the dominant aroma that greets you. The taste is more complex. This is a special ale. The brewer claims 158 IBU..This ale has a medium body with average-soft carbonation. The sip strides easily into assertive bitterness in the finish and a little alcohol warmth in the throat.

Big sweet DIPA. Hazy burny orange. Aroma of caramel and citrus peel. Taste was definitely big caramel with complex hop characteristics coming through - citrus, bitter, and earthy. Fair drinkable for being so big.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with medium frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong pine, resin, grapefruit. Medium mouth with nice hop bite, herbs, citrus, bitter finish. Good.

750ml bottle from Peabodyís in Boone, NC. Some malt but piney but full aroma. Pours copper orange with a nice white foam with great lacing. Taste is huge, hops explode, with a hint of malt and a alcohol burn mixed in but in full flavor. The palate is piney but not over top. A great beer and I will pick this up again for sure.

No date on the bottle, so I can only assume it is fresh and will be rating it as such. Yellow-orange pour with a white head. The aroma has some biscuit malt and grass but also a strong note of cooked vegetables. The flavor is a bit better. I get some orange and light pine notes as well as some biscuit malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Definitely seems past its prime, but with no date on the bottle I canít say for sure.
