On tap at the St Paul brewpub (sampler). Dark red colour. Biscuity malt aroma. Not much in the flavour. Thin and slightly sour on the palate. Something not quite right here. Last of the sampler. Job done. I doubt I’ll be back here again.

Draft @ Brewpub: Dark brown, light head, some lacing. Nose of intense sweet cocoa and coffee, some licorice notes and lots of astringency and diacetyl. The flavor is semi-tart, thin body, intense butterscotch and coffee. Odd, unbalanced and probably slightly infected, but looking past it, I like the combination of the roast, sourness and diacetyl.

From tap. Pours dark brown with off white head. Aroma is toffee and caramel sweet. Flavour is roasted malt, sight citric. Finish is roasted malt flavoured and dry. Very vague porter that is more than a brown porter.

Clear brown, 80% opacity. Roasted features and a mild malt aroma. It is easy to drink but the carbonation actually overwhelms the flavor--the "mineral water" taste that carbonation gives, which is a mark of how weak this is among porters of the world. I love Green Mill as a place of my youth--I started going when this was the only location, before its chain--but I really wish they would/could raise the standard of their beer at this flagship location. (on tap at brewpub)

Dark brown color with no head. Small coffee aroma to match a little coffee in the taste. Some malt and a bitter finish. Meh.

A very average porter. Black and a small, short lived head. Simple coffee aroma. Flavor of malt and more coffee. Lightly bitter.
